One thing about the election office - we are always looking ahead!

While many voters are focused on the upcoming August Election (🙌), we also want to remind those interested in local municipal offices that nominating petitions will soon be available for pickup!

Those offices include:
Johnson City Commission (2 seats), Town of Jonesborough Mayor, and Town of Jonesborough Alderman (2 seats)

First Day to Pick up: June 22, 2026
Qualifying Deadline: August 20, 2026 at 12 Noon
Withdrawal Deadline: August 27, 2026 at 12 Noon

Interested candidates may pick up nominating petitions beginning June 22 at the Washington County Election Commission office located at 2516 East Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601.

Election timelines move quickly, and November will be here before we know it! More information and important deadlines will continue to be shared as election season progresses.

Are you interested in being part of the election process? 🇺🇸

We are always looking for poll workers for upcoming elections! (and you're in luck - our next election is August 6!)

Poll workers are local residents who help voters, assist at polling locations, and play an important role in ensuring Election Day runs smoothly. This is a paid position, and no prior experience is required—training is provided.

If you’re interested in serving your community in a meaningful way, we would love to hear from you!

The Washington County Election Commission has received official write-in candidacy filings for the August 6, 2026 County General Election.

Individuals wishing to qualify as an official write-in candidate must file a Write-In Candidacy Form with our office no later than

🗓 Wednesday, June 17, 2026
🕛 12:00 Noon

Forms can be obtained and completed at our office or you can download and print the form through the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website at:
https://sos.tn.gov/elections/services/write-in-candidacy-form

Please note: completed forms must be filed with our office by the deadline above in order for write-in votes to be eligible to be counted in accordance with Tennessee election law. T.C.A. §§ 2-7-133 and 2-8-113

Sample ballots for the August 6, 2026 election are currently in the process of being reviewed and verified and will be posted as soon as they become available.

Voters with questions regarding certified write-in candidates may contact our office for public election information. The Washington County Election Commission remains strictly nonpartisan and does not endorse, support, or oppose any candidate or political party.

State & Federal Primary and County General Election

Please note: August ballots are still being finalized and are not available at this time. We’ll make a post once they’re ready! In the meantime, you can view local petitions picked up in Washington County here: https://www.wcecoffice.com/petitions/

🇺🇸 Early Voting begins July 17 and runs through August 1.
Hours:
Monday – Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
Saturday: 9 AM – 12 NOON
Closed Sundays

Absentee by-mail ballot requests are now being accepted. The deadline to request a ballot is July 27.
