In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county in Tennessee to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, about 150 local children around Johnson Creek find a book iJn the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you.

It’s going to be a wonderful morning—stop by and join us!

Join us for a special Family Fun Day featuring local author Amber Sawyer, who will be reading her heartwarming children's book, Love To Race!

After the story, kids can enjoy a fun, horse-themed craft inspired by the book—and the excitement doesn't stop there! You'll even have the chance to meet Amber's real race horse and learn more about these amazing animals.

If you’re looking for gardening inspiration, expert advice, or ideas for creating a beautiful pollinator-friendly yard, be sure to check out gardening expert Melinda Myers.

Many of you may know her from Larry Meiller’s “Garden Talk” on Wisconsin Public Radio, but you can also meet her in person at Ebert’s over the coming weekends. Don’t miss her free webinars on pollinator gardens, either!

Some of Melinda’s programs are offered in partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library, helping gardeners of all experience levels grow their knowledge.

Come stock up for your classrooms — the Friends of the Johnson Creek Library want to give back to our students with a huge, quality selection of books for all ages, including many titles with multiple copies — perfect for classroom use!

📚🎉 Celebrating 5 Years of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! 🎉📚

What an incredible milestone! Through the partnership between TalkReadPlay and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, 3,437 children have participated or are currently enrolled in Dodge and Jefferson Counties, with an amazing 77,066 books delivered directly to children’s homes.

Even more impressive, the program is reaching 91% of eligible children in the service area—helping foster a love of reading, spark imagination, and build early literacy skills that last a lifetime.

The Friends of the Johnson Creek Public Library are especially proud to have been one of the first Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library partners with the Greater Watertown Area Health Foundation. Seeing this program grow and touch so many young lives has been truly wonderful.

📖 Every book delivered is an investment in a child’s future.
