Incorporated in 1894, the Village of Johnson is located in Lamoille County, Vermont, United States and is approximately 1.2 square miles. The Village has four departments and is managed by an elected 5-member Board of Trustees and an appointed Village Manager. Through its four departments, the Village provides essential public services, including fire protection, electricity, water, sewer, and sid
ewalk maintenance. Some of the oldest organizations found in Vermont call the Village of Johnson home, including Johnson Woolen Mills, founded in 1836. Johnson State College, founded as Johnson Academy School in 1828 and Parker and Stearns, founded 1890, one of the oldest continuous family owned business remaining in Vermont. Johnson State College is one of the largest employers in Lamoille County nestled along the spine of the Green Mountains within a 350 acre campus. Approximately 1500 students attend the college. The Vermont Studio Center, a non-profit, year-round, international creative community annually serves 600 artists and writers from across the country and around the world. Since 1984, The Vermont Studio School has grown to be one of the largest international artists’ and writers’ residency programs in the United States.
