Winter is coming, Panthers. With the possibility of heavy snowfall this weekend and colder temperatures next week, itโ€™s important to prepare for school, home, and travel.ย

๐Ÿงค Wear layers - in extreme cold, wear 1 insulating layer and three or more layers; a warm hat, gloves, face mask; 1 outer layer to keep the wind out; and waterproof boots.
๐Ÿš˜ Drive safely - plan your trip in advance, allowing extra time for delays. Make sure your vehicle is in good working condition and have winter emergency car kit assembled.
๐Ÿง Walk like a penguin - when walking on icy sidewalks or roads, spread your feet out slightly and bend to keep your center of gravity over your front leg. Extend your arms out to your sides to maintain your balance.ย
๐Ÿ‘€ Be vigilant - as a motorist or pedestrian, be aware of drivers during poor road conditions, as they may slide out of their lanes or onto the side of the road. Pay attention to your surroundings, keeping your eyes up and staying free from distractions.

Check safety.pitt.edu for winter weather and other safety advisories and contact Pitt Police at 412-624-2121 if you experience an on-campus emergency. Stay safe, Panthers!
