It is with deep sadness that West End Ambulance announces the passing of one of our Founding Fathers, Karl Hanuska. We would like to extend our sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to his family during this difficult time.
Obituary
Hanuska, Karl E., 79, Johnstown, passed away June 24, 2026, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born July 4, 1946, to the late Paul and Lavina (Boring) Hanuska. Preceded in death by son, Brian Hanuska and brother, Paul Hanuska. Survived by loving wife, Patricia (Orzechowski) Hanuska; children, Karl Hanuska Jr. (Rudy); John Hanuska (Elizabeth); Tanya Brubaker (Richard); Heath Hanuska; Jayne Hanuska (fiancé Russell Long); and Justin Hanuska; sister, Donna Crowder (George); cherished grandchildren, Casey and Renee Hanuska; 14 beloved grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and faithful friend, Ronald Newsome. Karl was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served as a Chief Petty Officer during the Gulf War. He advanced through the ranks at the Johnstown Police Department as a patrolman, K-9 handler, and detective, before retiring and working as a security officer for Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC). Karl was a member of FOP Lodge 86, Johnstown Rifle and Pistol Club, and a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW. The Hanuska family would like to express their appreciation to AseraCare Hospice, especially Allie and Steve, for the compassionate care they provided to Karl. Family and friends will be received Tuesday July 7th from 3 p.m. until time of service at 6:30 p.m., at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd.
