This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, when nearly 3,000 people lost their lives. Together, we will remember the innocent lives lost and honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and countless others who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selfless service that day.

This ceremony reflects the enduring partnership between the fire service and law enforcement and provides an opportunity for our community to come together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.

As we mark 25 years since September 11, we remain committed to never forgetting those we lost and to carrying forward the values of service, sacrifice, unity, and community.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ATTENDEES:
A 21-gun salute will be performed by the police honor guard during the ceremony. This portion of the memorial will include several loud, sudden gunshots. Those who are sensitive to loud noises, including veterans and individuals with PTSD, as well as those attending with infants or small children, are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Illinois has experienced record breaking severe weather this summer. I sat down with Brian Van and Chief Todd Fonfara to learn more about Will County's new Smart 9-1-1 system. Smart 9-1-1 assists the Will County community by providing additional information to first responders, alerting family members, providing weather updates even if the user is out of the area (providing weather updates where the person is with some limitations) and posts to social media.

Severe storms, including possible tornadoes and damaging winds of up to 96 mph, have moved through parts of ComEd's service territory, with our southern service region among the hardest-hit areas.

Paws, maps, and treats! 🐾🗺
Our GIS department had an amazing helper today when K9 Lizzy from Will County Sheriff's Office stopped by to inspect our maps. Safe to say, the official verdict is in: every single neighborhood needs more dog parks marked on the grid!

We tried to get her to help us analyze some spatial data, but she was a bit more interested in sniffing out who had snacks hidden in their desk drawers. Can't say we blame her.
