Joliet Fire Department

Joliet Fire Department Joliet Fire Department The City of Joliet Fire Department is here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to serve our citizens and visitors alike.

We provide a wide variety of services to our community of nearly 150,000 citizens. Our calls for services number over 19,000 responses annually, or about 52 runs per day. About 15,000 of those calls are Emergency Medical Service calls. To address this, we provide an Advanced Life Support Ambulance in each of our 9 operating fire stations. From our firefighting work force of 212, 193 are state cert

ified paramedics and the remainders are first responders. These numbers have steadily increased since the first paramedic class of 24 medics back in 1989. Regardless of your emergency, be it fire, medical, haz-mat, water rescue, or any other, we are prepared to respond. We are here for you. Please practice your Exit Drill In The Home (EDITH) plan for all emergencies and check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors monthly.

We had some very special visitors last week! The first-grade classes from Forest Park IE (Joliet Public Schools District 86) stopped by Station 4 as part of their "ABC Countdown" to the last day of school.

For the letter K, these amazing students took on a Kindness Challenge. Not only did they bring some snacks for our crew (which were much appreciated!), but they also brought a lot of smiles and energy to the station.

A huge thank you to CAPT Matt Bozicevich, Francisco Rios, Harold Pitsenberger, Nicholas Murphy and Timothy Barrowman for showing the next generation what it means to serve the community.

To the students of Forest Park IE: Thank you for choosing us for your Kindness Challenge! You definitely made our day. Have a safe and wonderful summer break! ☀️

At approximately 2:00 p.m Saturday May 9th, the Joliet Fire Department responded to the 1900 block of Arbor Gate Drive, for a report of a structure fire in a 2-story residence. Company 9 arrived within 3 minutes of the call and found fire and smoke coming from the rear structure. The fire had extended to the attic.

Crews remained on the scene for 90 minutes extinguishing hot spots and checking for extension. There were no injuries to report.

Fire crews from stations 6,8,9 and 10 responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
