Update: LEAD & COPPER INSPECTION

We are currently conducting the Lead and Copper Inspections. Due to the high volume of customers who have not been home to complete the inspection, we are extending the time frame. We anticipate completion by May 1, 2026.

If you are unable to meet with us in person or prefer to complete the survey over the phone, please contact us at 815-955-9833 to answer the questions via phone. Alternatively, you can complete the survey by messaging us on Facebook as well.

The state has categorized this inspection as a survey that must be performed annually. If we do not receive a call or text within a reasonable timeframe, we will continue to visit the home until the survey is completed. This is a mandatory 100% completion rate requirement by the ILEPA.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all customers contributing to the successful completion of this inspection/survey.

This week, we will conduct Lead and Copper Inspections at your residence. During the inspection, we will engage in a brief questionnaire to assess the condition of your plumbing system. Upon completion, you will be required to sign the inspection form, which is a mandatory requirement enforced by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The entire inspection process is expected to take less than 10 minutes. Our employees will be identifiable by their blue shirts bearing the Eastmoreland logo. Additionally, we will post a notice on your door to inform you of the upcoming inspection. Should you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at 815-955-9833. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

4:41 am. The maintenance is completed. The maintenance did take about 6 hours longer than anticipated. We were able to maintain the pressure throughout the system while performing the maintenance. We are still going to monitor the system to ensure everything is operating smoothly. We want to thank everyone for being patient while we performed the maintenance.
NO BOIL ORDER NEEDED

1:46 am were still performing the maintenance. The maintenance has not caused low pressure like we anticipated it would. Once we complete the maintenance we will give a final update. If for some reason the pressure does get affected we will update this post.

10:57 pm We are still working on the system at this time. We do not have an exact time the maintenance will be complete tonight. We have run into a few issues. We will update the page as we gain more information.

8:32 pm. We are starting the maintenance at the one location now. The maintenance will take roughly 1-2 hours to perform. During this time you may experience lower than usual pressure. Once the maintenance is completed the system will be back to fully operational. We are asking you to try to use the water sparingly during the maintenance to prevent the water pressure from dropping to low and needing to issue a boil order. We will update the page as soon as the maintenance is completed.m

Tomorrow February 10, 2026 we will be performing required maintenance at one of the locations. This maintenance will be performed late afternoon. During this time you will experience lower than normal water pressure. Once we complete the maintenance the system will take about 2-3 hours to return to normal. We appreciate your patience while we perform this required maintenance.

2-3-2026 @ 2:13 am

We have been closely monitoring the system for the past two days. We have inspected our water mains multiple times and have found no issues. If a water main were to break the system would be unable to build and maintain pressure. At this time, we have successfully built pressure to the normal levels and our cycling time is normal.

We are currently investigating a property with a frozen service line. Since the issue with this property began, we have been experiencing low pressure when the customer attempts to repair it. This is not a simple property to isolate due to the special circumstances at this time and the removal of the properties junction box which was not authorized by Eastmoreland Water. While we are not certain that this is the cause, it is highly probable. We will continue monitoring the system and conducting further investigations on the property in question.

We appreciate your patience as we work to determine the cause of the issue. We still request that customers notify us if they observe any standing water in the neighborhood.

2-2-26 Update 1@ 6:30 pm we have a vacant home on the system. We turned the water off to this property. We also have a home that is repairing their service line this evening. These two properties have been isolated. We are going to keep monitoring the system to see if this was the cause. Currently we are building pressure at both locations. Please continue to inspect your property for standing water. We will update the page as new information is gained.

@ 5:45 pm Tonight we have lost pressure again. We have checked all the water mains and we do not see any leaks. We are asking customers to walk their property to see if you have any standing water in your yard. We were able to build pressure up during the day due to low usage. As people are coming home and preparing dinner we have lost what we gained. If you do see water on your property please call us immediately so we can come inspect the issue.

Update: 10:00 pm. We have increased the pressure through out the system. This seemed to help for a short time tonight. We have checked the water mains trying to see if we possibly have a water main break. At this time we have not located one. We are still monitoring the system to try and locate why the pressure is not being maintained. It currently will build and hold for about 30 minutes then it’s dropping rapidly. This is not typical. Both facilities are operating as they should be at this time. If you see standing water anywhere in the neighborhood or if you have standing water on your property please contact us so we can investigate the source. We will keep this post updated as we gain new information.

We are currently experiencing low pressure. We have checked both pump houses and they are operating properly. We are looking to see if we have a main break that is causing the low pressure. We will keep the page updated as we gain new information.

UPDATE:
The pressure switch has been replaced. The new switch does not allow us to dial in to the specific range as the previous ones did. We are currently working on this issue. Our previous range was 40 to 50, while the new switch only allows 35 to 55. This means that we will no longer be able to dial in the 40-50 range. We are waiting to see if this causes any issues with the water pressure throughout the system. We will update the page as we gather more data.

Time: 5:01 AM

Over the weekend, a spider entered the pressure switch housing. This switch activates the pump, which dispenses water when the pressure drops below a predetermined level. However, due to the spider’s web being sticky, the switch has repeatedly become stuck in the off position several times since the issue was discovered, preventing the pump from initiating water flow.

The pressure switch was removed and cleaned. Despite this, the switch continues to malfunction. We have contacted Joe’s Well and Pump to schedule a replacement. We will determine the specific day and time for the switch replacement.

In the interim, we have implemented a system of shifts to monitor the pressure at the location. If the pressure falls below the set threshold, we will adjust the housing to initiate the cycling process.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will provide an update on the situation as soon as we have further information.

12/13/25: UPDATE:
A spider got inside the pressure switch housing and made a web. This cause the pressure switch to not be able to make proper contact when the system called for water. We have safely removed the spider and the web. Currently we are back up and running the pressure should be back to normal here within the next hour. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We are going to look into ways to prevent this issue from happening again.

We are currently experiencing an issue from the maintenance performed last night. We are working on getting it back up and running as soon as possible.

Maintenance Notification

We will be conducting mandatory maintenance on the system on Friday, December 12, 2025, and Saturday, December 13, 2025. The affected location will be unavailable for approximately four hours during the maintenance process. The maintenance is scheduled to commence at 11:00 PM and conclude by 4:00 AM on both nights. We have opted to schedule this maintenance overnight to minimize any inconvenience.

The maintenance will address water pressure issues and is typically required when water usage increases. This maintenance is usually necessary after holidays.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The system will be fully operational and at full capacity no later than 4:00 AM. While it is expected to be operational earlier, we recommend that you plan accordingly. If weather conditions change, we will have to postpone the maintenance process. If we do postpone, we will update the page.

Thank you for your understanding.
