Today, we’re proud to recognize Officer Ledford and K9 Brix, one of the hardworking teams serving the Jones Police Department.

Police K9s are more than just partners on duty - they are loyal teammates, trusted protectors, and an important part of the public safety mission. Brix brings skill, courage, and a whole lot of personality to the job, and we’re grateful for the dedication Officer Ledford puts into their partnership every day.

💳 CONVENIENCE FEE UPDATE FOR JPWA CUSTOMERS

The Jones Public Works Authority has reached an agreement with NextBillPay to begin passing payment processing fees on to customers.

These fees had previously been paid by the Authority on behalf of customers under our original NextBillPay contract. In June 2025, the JPWA Board of Trustees approved returning those processing costs to the customer, and we are now able to implement that change at the following rates:

• eCheck: $1.00 for payments from $0.01–$5,000.00
• Credit/Debit Card: $2.50 for payments from $0.01–$300.00
• Credit/Debit Card: 2.75% for payments from $300.01–$5,000.00

Customers who would like to avoid convenience fees may still pay by mailed check or enroll in online autopay.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we worked through the process of getting this agreement in place and keeping the rates as reasonable as possible.

SW 6th Street will be closed between Sweetbough to Franklin due to gas line repairs.

Please use caution in the area, watch for crews and traffic control devices, and plan for detours or temporary traffic diversions while repairs are underway.

Chief Nelson has made the decision to postpone the Jones Fire Department’s Annual Hydrant Flow Testing while our area remains under a burn ban.

At this time, we believe it is more important to prioritize our water supply and preserve water reserves rather than use additional water for hydrant testing.

The testing will be rescheduled for a later date this year, and we will keep residents informed as soon as a new date is selected.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working to make the best decisions for the safety and needs of our community.

Today we recognize Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the certification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which prohibited denying the right to vote on the basis of s*x.

The day is both a celebration of how far women have come and a reminder of the generations of women who worked, organized, spoke up, and pushed for greater equality.

Here in Jones, we are especially proud that Town Hall is administratively staffed entirely by women — women who serve our residents, keep the day-to-day operations moving, support our departments, and help keep the Town running behind the scenes.

We are proud to recognize the women who help shape our families, workplaces, schools, businesses, public service, and community every single day.

To the women who came before us, those leading today, and the girls growing up to become tomorrow’s leaders — we celebrate you. 💚
