International Studies Magnet School

International Studies Magnet School Welcome to International Studies- where learning is required and so is excellent behavior!

At International Studies, our globally focused initiatives, coupled with our adaptation of The Ron Clark Academy, create well-rounded students prepared to move forward with their educational career and into the workforce. Our students’ daily activities are filled with many innovative and up-to-date experiences. New to International Studies is our EAST Lab, the only one of its kind at the elementar

y level in Northeast Arkansas, which gives students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse themselves in the use of technology to use their critical thinking skills to solve world problems. Working collaboratively with the EAST program, our ACE program encourages accelerated learners to challenge the status quo and create unique, individualized experiences for themselves. Our rotation activities feature a class unique to International Studies, Spanish and World Culture. Each student in our building receives a weekly 40 minute segment focused on the acquisition of the Spanish language and global competency. Our other activity classes include P.E., Music, Art, and Library, all featuring state-of-the-art equipment to support content-based learning, as well as the infusion of core subjects. In the regular classroom, our highly qualified teachers provide dynamic instruction using Wit and Wisdom, CKLA, and iReady Math curriculums. Students receive attention based on their individual needs and are scaffolded appropriately to meet the high rigor of the curriculum. Feel welcome to reach out to our administrators by phone or email with any questions! Principal, Suzanne Faught, [email protected]

💵Financial Literacy at Its Finest in Ms. Lyons’ Classroom (or 🦁“Den”)💵

What happens when classroom expectations meet a paycheck? Students start seeing value in their decisions!

Through our 🦁“Lyon’s Den” Economy, students earn Den Dollars💵, independently manage their own Den Bank Card💳, and learn that every dollar comes with a choice.

🦁💵Today was our first Lyons’ Den Store Shop Day! Students checked balances, compared prices, made purchases, and wrestled with the ultimate question: Spend it now…or save for something bigger? 🤔

It may look like shopping, but they’re practicing financial literacy, budgeting, responsibility, independence, and real-world decision-making every step of the way. 🏦 👏

This week in Mrs. Hillary’s Spanish and Conservation Leadership classes, our students learned about the importance of listening to and respecting each other. Each student made their own “talking stick” and practiced passing a stick around as they took turns sharing nature stories and giving their full attention to listening to others share their stories. What a wonderful experience sharing creativity and time together in our beautiful courtyard at I.S.! Ask your student to share their talking stick with your family and pass it around to practice listening and showing respect.
