There will be a lot going on in the city this summer. Below is a breakdown of the projects and estimated start dates.
Water tower cleaning and painting. This process started last week and the tower will be drained on the 10th of July. Project should be completed by the end of July.
New water plant project-Should start around August 1st and will take 6 to 9 months to complete.
6th street project-Should start around July 22nd. This includes paving 3rd st, 4th st, and 5th street between 3rd ave and 4th ave. Paving 6th st from Water st. out to Westview school. Sidewalks will be added from 3rd st to Westview school.
Railroad crossing on 6th st. They will shut down the crossing for 3 days to add automatic arms to the crossing for safety reasons. We will update the date when we hear back from the railroad, but it should be in July.
Water street paving. This could happen this fall or early next spring, still working on dates on this one. 1st phase will be from state road 22 to 5th st. This includes paving and new sidewalks. 2nd phase will complete the paving of Water st and also includes new sidewalks.

As you can see, we have several projects lined up this year. There will be road closures, but it will be worth it in the end.

I will update this list if anything changes or we receive any updates.

Have a nice day.

Jonesboro Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone to please watch over each other especially the elderly and very young. We are under heat warnings and or advisory though the week. Also keep your pets safe keep water out for them and if you can get them out of the heat would even be better. Thanks stay safe.

Just for public information. I was giving this by a resident and asked if it was something the fire dept is doing. This has nothing to do with the Jonesboro Fire rescue, we don't receive any money from this and if you read the fine print it tells you it's not affiliated with your local department. I'm not saying it's not a legitimate company I don't know I will be calling the number and asking questions . Anytime we do a fund raiser we will make sure we let people know though different ways like Facebook, our sign at the station, and your local firefighters. Thanks for everybody's help with this just wanted to make sure everybody knew it is not us.

Jonesboro Fire Rescue wishes everyone a Happy 4th of July. Hope everyone has a great day and please be safe.

06/28/2023

Everyone please be careful today. The air quality is very bad today especially for older citizens, the very young, and people with underlying health issues.
