Craighead County is currently under a burn ban issued by county judge Marvin Day. Outdoor burning is prohibited during the ban.

Tonight we did a couple walk-through scenarios with two of our “new to us” tankers. In the coming months we will have 3 identical tankers for frontline response. Once all the apparatus are online, we will be housing 4,000 gallons of water at our north and west stations. Our south station will house 3 apparatus and 6,750 gallons of water.

We are currently under a Red Flag Warning in addition to the County Burn Ban. The small amounts of rain we have seen over the last week have not been enough to lift the ban. Outdoor burning is extremely hazardous at this time.

Due to ongoing high winds and dry weather, Craighead County will remain under a burn ban until further notice.

🚨 BURN BAN ISSUED FOR CRAIGHEAD COUNTY 🚨

Effective 3/11/2025, a burn ban is now in place for Craighead County due to dry conditions and an increased fire risk. This was requested from our County Fire District Chiefs, in collaboration with Arkansas Forestry Services, to protect lives and property.

🔥 No outdoor burning is allowed until further notice. 🔥

This order will be strictly enforced by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, local fire officials, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Arkansas Forestry Services.

Earlier today, while responding to a hazardous material spill, one of our trucks was involved in a rollover accident. The driver was able to get out of the truck with help from witnesses. EMS evaluated our Firefighter and released him to the care of his family. The accident is under investigation and we’ll release any more information as it becomes available. Thank you to the citizens and neighboring departments that helped. Please say a prayer for our Firefighter and our department.
