⚠️ PLANNED OUTAGE NOTICE ⚠️

Craighead Electric crews have a planned outage scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the Smithville area while crews replace two poles on a copper line. For safety reasons, this work cannot be performed with the line energized.

Here's what members can expect:

🔹 Members located from Lawrence Road 154 north along Highway 115 to Lawrence Road 149 will be without power for approximately 4 hours while crews complete the work.

🔹 Members located from Lawrence Road 154 back into Smithville, including the Truman Drive area, will experience a brief outage of approximately 5 minutes while crews isolate the work area and restore service to the remainder of the line.

Because of the way this circuit is configured, outage notifications were sent to all affected members showing the maximum outage duration of 4 hours. We wanted to provide additional clarification so members know what to expect.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews complete this important work to maintain the safety and reliability of our electric system.

Congratulations to Cooper Clayton, recipient of the Wired for Success Scholarship!

Today, we were proud to present Cooper with a $4,500 Wired for Success Scholarship in recognition of his academic achievements, strong work ethic, and commitment to building a brighter future right here in Northeast Arkansas.

A graduate of Greene County Tech, Cooper has been actively involved in FFA and is known for his dedication to agriculture, leadership, and service. As a hobby farmer with a passion for caring for animals, he plans to attend Arkansas State University and pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.

What made Cooper's application especially meaningful is his commitment to giving back to the communities that helped shape him. While many students dream of where their education might take them, Cooper's long-term goal is to stay right here at home and serve the people, farms, and families of Northeast Arkansas as a veterinarian.

That dedication closely reflects the purpose of the Wired for Success Scholarship. Just as Craighead Electric and Empower Broadband are committed to strengthening the communities we serve, Cooper is committed to using his education to make a lasting impact right here at home.

It was a privilege to celebrate this accomplishment alongside Cooper and his mother during today's scholarship presentation. We look forward to seeing all he accomplishes in the years ahead.

The Wired for Success Scholarship is funded through Co-op Cares, a nonprofit organization supported by employee contributions and fundraising efforts. Through initiatives like this scholarship, Co-op Cares helps create opportunities that strengthen the communities served by Craighead Electric and Empower Broadband.

Please join us in congratulating Cooper and wishing him continued success as he begins this exciting next chapter.

Congratulations to Tyler Mitchener, the inaugural recipient of the Keith Blocker Memorial Scholarship!

Today was a meaningful and emotional milestone as we awarded the first-ever Keith Blocker Memorial Scholarship, a $9,000 scholarship established to honor the life, legacy, and lasting impact of Keith Blocker.

Keith dedicated more than 35 years of service to Craighead Electric, helping shape the reliable infrastructure that serves our members today. Through his engineering expertise, leadership, and passion for innovation and service, Keith left an imprint on this cooperative and the communities we serve that will be felt for generations.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate this moment alongside Keith's family, including his wife, Joan, his daughters and their families. Their presence served as a reminder that while Keith's professional accomplishments were extraordinary, the relationships he built and the lives he touched were equally significant.

We are proud to support Tyler as he pursues a degree in mechanical engineering. His academic achievements, initiative, and commitment to engineering embody the qualities that defined Keith's career and legacy.

This scholarship is funded by the Blocker Family, along with Co-op Cares, a nonprofit organization that reflects Craighead Electric and Empower Broadband's commitment to powering opportunity through electricity, connectivity, and education.

Please join us in congratulating Tyler and wishing him continued success as he begins this next chapter. We are honored that the Keith Blocker Memorial Scholarship will continue inspiring future engineers and carrying forward a legacy that means so much to our cooperative family.

🇺🇸 Two outstanding students are representing Craighead Electric Cooperative this week in our nation’s capital!

Congratulations to Layni Boggs and Kaydence Garland, our 2026 Cooperative Youth Tour delegates. After a competitive application process that included more than 20 applicants and in-person interviews, Layni and Kaydence were selected to represent CECC on this once-in-a-lifetime leadership experience.

The Cooperative Youth Tour, sponsored by Arkansas’s electric cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, gives high school students the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., learn about the cooperative business model, meet elected officials, develop leadership skills, and connect with students from across the country.

The group arrived in Baltimore yesterday and made their way to Washington, D.C. today, where they will spend the week exploring our nation’s history, government, and the impact of electric cooperatives.

We’re also grateful to have CECC employee Marti Lynn Hook serving as a volunteer chaperone for this year’s trip, helping guide and support students throughout the experience.

Join us in wishing Layni and Kaydence a fantastic week as they represent our cooperative, our communities, and the next generation of leaders! 🇺🇸✨

Scattered storms moving through our service territory this afternoon have caused several outages across the Craighead Electric and Empower Broadband systems.

Our crews are actively responding and working to safely restore service as quickly as possible. In at least one location, a utility pole was brought down by the storm, impacting both electric and fiber infrastructure.

While electric service can often be restored before all repairs are completed, fiber restoration may take additional time in areas where damage to broadband infrastructure has occurred.

We appreciate your patience as our crews work through multiple outage locations. Please remember to stay away from any downed power lines and report outages through SmartHub, by texting OUT to 85700, or by calling our outage line. Empower customers can report service issues by contacting technical support.

We’ll continue to provide updates as information becomes available. You can check our power outage map online 24/7 at https://outagecraigheadelectriccoop.ecark.org/.

We were honored to welcome Jennifer Loiacano, Director of Governmental Affairs for , along with State Representative Jack Ladyman (District 32) and State Representative Jeremy Wooldridge (District 1), to Craighead Electric this week for a conversation about advocacy, public policy, and the issues impacting electric cooperatives and the communities we serve.

Our guests shared insights into the legislative process, the importance of maintaining strong relationships with policymakers, and the ways electric cooperatives work to advocate for policies that benefit rural Arkansas. Employees also had the opportunity to learn more about the cooperative advocacy process and the role our political action committee plays in supporting the cooperative mission.

We appreciate Jennifer, Representative Ladyman, and Representative Wooldridge for taking the time to invest in our employees and help strengthen our understanding of the issues that matter most to our members and communities.

Attention Black Oak (and surrounding area) Members:

We know there’s never a convenient time to be without power, and planned outages are something we work hard to avoid whenever possible. However, to safely remove a tree that is in contact with a transmission line between our Black Oak and Lake City substations, Craighead Electric crews will need to conduct a brief planned outage beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11.

The outage will affect approximately 960 members served by the Black Oak Substation, including those in Black Oak, Monette, Childress, Macey, Mangrum, and Caraway.

When planned outages are necessary, we try to schedule them during the early morning hours to minimize disruption and complete the work during the cooler part of the day. This outage is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews complete this important work to help maintain the safety and reliability of our electric system.💚

Members in the Cash/Egypt area may notice Right of Way crews in the area for the next few weeks.

🌳 This work helps us keep the right of way clear — about 15 feet on either side of our lines — which is key to preventing outages and keeping power reliable, especially during storms.

🚧 You may notice crews in trucks without Craighead Electric logos. These are authorized contractors working on our behalf.
