We’re incredibly grateful for Arkansas Children’s generous support of the Summer Feeding Program! The funds they donated helped provide nutritious food to children across Northeast Arkansas this summer, helping our community’s most vulnerable children have the food they need to grow and thrive.

Because of their support, three school pantries were able to distribute food throughout the summer:

📍Marion School District (Crittenden County)
📍Pocahontas School District (Randolph County)
📍Rivercrest School District (Mississippi County)

8,266 pounds of food were distributed to various locations, benefiting 252 households and 1,026 individuals, with funding from Arkansas Children’s!

During the August Congressional Recess, staff members representing the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator John Boozman, Senator Tom Cotton, and Representative Rick Crawford visited the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas. We appreciate the time this group took to listen and to learn more about hunger relief efforts and the challenges facing families across our region.

A recent study found that 37% of Arkansans don’t have access to enough food to meet their needs (https://foodbankofnea.org/ARHungerContinuum). Addressing hunger is a community-wide effort that requires partnerships among nonprofits, faith-based organizations, volunteers, donors, businesses, and public officials across all levels.
