The women in the woods braved the heat today to collect native flower seeds to create seed balls with a mixture of compost soil and clay. 🌸 We moved indoors to the AC to form the balls once we had a good assortment of seeds, thank goodness 🙌🏻 Very excited for the spring to launch these seeds and see all the new flowers! 🌸🌼🌻❤️

IT IS TIME!!! Registration is officially open for the annual Women in the Woods campout. This is such a fun event filled with new friends, good food, and amazing recreational opportunities. Call the Visitor Center at 870-932-2615 to register. Payment is due at registration.

P.S. To our repeat campout ladies, we have the pavilion this year in case the wind tries to blow the tents away again!

Due to drying conditions we are officially under a burn ban. No open ground/wood fires are permitted during this time in the park. You are allowed charcoal or propane grills or stoves however. Please be vigilant for any smoke and/or fires during this time.

For the last two events before the annual Women in the Woods campout, we have Flower Power in September and our backpacking trip in October. Both events are free (note however that you will need to bring your own backpacking supplies/food for October). Registration is required for both events.

This year is going quick! Make sure to treat yourself with time outside.

Women in the Woods reminder: Night Hike is coming up on August 2 at 9 pm. So grab you flash flight, bug spray, and get ready to see what stories the night brings!

The Women in the Woods closed out the holiday weekend with a beautiful sunset kayak. 🛶🌅We went on a color scavenger hunt, ran in to some beavers and then topped it off with a fireworks show from the lake! 🎆

Next month’s event will be August 2nd- a night hike from 9 pm to 10 pm. That one is free, but please call the park anytime from 8 am to 5 pm to register. Enjoy chasing adventures out there!

Women in the Woods sunset kayak cruise is coming up on July 5. Finish out your July 4 weekend with the best lights in the sky! Call the park at 870-932-2615 to reserve your kayak adventure!

Don't forget to check out events throughout the 4th weekend, including a special hike to celebrate 250 years on the Ridge on July 4 from 2 pm to 4 pm on the Boundary trail.
