Last Thursday night at our monthly meeting, the membership came together to present our 2025 officers with plaques showing them our thanks of all of the work they put in, especially behind the scenes to keep us operating effectively. Thank you to our officers for a great year and here’s hoping for another safe and great year!

Needing to burn? We’re here to help! Between October 15th and May 15th, everyone is REQUIRED to have a burn permit! It is super simple! Visit BurnSafeTN.org and fill it out, they are free to everyone! You can also call 877-350-2876 to get one over the phone!

List of things you CAN burn!

-Leaves, branches, tree limbs, twigs, lawn clippings, woody vegetation, yard trimmings, clean unpainted, uncoated wood or untreated lumber. Check your local and/or other state ordinances. Improper out-door burning can lead to fines up to $25,000.

Before burning, make sure there is no burn ban in place, that can be found out by visiting the website or calling the number. Think smart, don’t burn when the wind is blowing and don’t burn near any wooded areas or near any structures!

Does your family have an escape plan? All of us here at Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department want to make sure that you and your loved ones are safe!

Some safety tips!
-Make sure your smoke alarms are working, the batteries get replaced and you test them!
-Have an escape plan! Fire moves very quickly, by the time your alarms go off, the fire is already increasing in size and heat.
-Help the fire department by making sure your house number is visible whether it being on your house or mailbox, bonus points for both! (We do sell signs for your house number!)
-Make sure there is nothing blocking any of the exits of your house, including both doors and windows, you could end up needing to use either!
-DO NOT HESITATE to call 911, we are here for a reason!
