Join us NEXT WEEK for County Fair Week, Tuesday, Sept 8th through Saturday, Sept 12th, as we celebrate one of America’s long-standing country traditions. 🎡🎪🎠🎆🎢🤝

County fairs began in the early 1800s as gatherings where farmers could show livestock, share ideas, improve everyday life, and take pride in the work of local hands.

Long before the rides, games, ribbons, and fair food, they were a way for neighbors to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the people who helped keep their communities going.

Over time, county fairs grew into something even bigger - animals, blue ribbons, food booths, music, games, handmade goods, and memories made with family and friends. But at the heart of it all, county fairs have always been about community.

For a whole week at the Pig, we’re honoring that same spirit with a variety of fair food favorites. Follow us on Facebook to see what’s cooking each day! 🌭

Stop in, sit a spell, and celebrate county fairs with us!

🇺🇸 September is National Preparedness Month and this year, VDEM is asking Virginians to Stand Ready.🛡️

Preparedness isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about being ready for the people who matter most. Throughout September, we’ll share simple, low, and no-cost steps to protect your household, help your neighbors and support responders.

We’ll focus on three actions: KNOW. PLAN. BUILD.

KNOW where to get trusted information. PLAN what you and your family will do. BUILD a kit that works for your needs.

Who do you stand ready for?

🐾 Welcome to LCCPR! 🐾

So, what exactly is LCCPR?

LCCPR stands for Lee County Cat Protection & Rescue, a Lee County chapter of PAWS of SWVA created to help protect and improve the lives of cats throughout our community.

Our goals include:

🐱 Rescuing cats in need
✂️ Promoting spay and neuter efforts
🐾 Supporting feral TNR and colony care
❤️ Connecting cats and their people with helpful resources
🏡 Working toward safe foster care, treatment and adoption opportunities

We want to be completely transparent: we are still in the very early stages of building LCCPR. Before we can begin taking cats into our care, we need volunteers, foster homes, community partners, sponsors and plenty of helping hands!

Although we are not accepting cats at this time, we will offer as much guidance and support as we possibly can while we build the network needed to serve Lee County safely and responsibly.

Please follow our page, share it with your friends and invite anyone who may want to volunteer or support our mission. Every strong rescue begins with a community willing to care—and we’re excited to build this one together! 🐾💚
