Jonesville Police Department – Chief’s Challenge 💪
In 2023, Chief Vestal launched the Chief’s Challenge for the Jonesville Police Department to promote mental and physical wellness among our officers, staff, town employees, and their families. What started as a voluntary fitness initiative has grown into something much bigger — a culture of accountability, resilience, and healthy living.
Participation is completely voluntary, but those who accept the challenge commit to logging 15 workouts per month, each lasting at least 45 minutes.
Since the beginning of the challenge, participants have collectively achieved:
🏋️ 6,383 workouts logged
⏱️ 6,440 hours, 57 minutes of exercise
🏃 4,500.32 miles completed
2025 Chiefs Challenge results
The Chief’s Challenge includes five achievement tiers, recognizing dedication and perseverance:
Tier One – Challenge Accepted (1–50 hours)
12 participants including officers, department staff, town employees, and family members
Tier Two – Challenge Makers (51–100 hours)
4 participants including officers and family members
Tier Three – Challenge Chasers (101–150 hours)
3 participants including officers and family members
Tier Four – Challenge Crushers (151–200 hours)
Tier Five – Above & Beyond Crushers (200+ hours)
6 participants including officers, department staff, and family members
In 2024, Chief Vestal introduced the Joshua Bornhorn “Get After It” Award, named in honor of Joshua Bornhorn, who encouraged the Chief to “Get After It” while training together in Louisville, Kentucky. The award recognizes exceptional commitment and determination.
