​Dolly Parton’s boundless generosity transformed generations of readers. In honor of her father, she founded the Imagination Library in 1995 to ensure every child had books at home, eventually gifting hundreds of millions of books to children everywhere.

Our most popular program through the year is BACK! Please share so we can reach even more homeschool families!
Monday, August 24th, our Homeschool Group will gather to start our school year. There will be a chance for all children and parents to let us know what our kids need.
This will be an awesome day and we look forward to seeing everyone again!

Join us for Wiggle Worms tomorrow morning at 10 am for songs, storytime, and a craft all about bees!

In addition for families, we will have a very special guest with us, Lindsay Jester! The Nurturing Parenting Program provides a free 16-week in-home parenting course for Yadkin County residents with children ages 5 and younger. Topics include nurturing parenting skills, child development, nutrition, positive discipline, and family well-being.
The program is funded by Smart Start of Yadkin County and operated by Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina.

🐛Catepillar Crossing

These are pictures we took this morning just outside our doors. There are so many of these Orangestriped Oakworms. The first reaction to seeing them was "of course they want to come into the library!" However, what is interesting is that they are actually on their own individual search but with a goal in mind: looking for a loose, safe spot of soil!

We thought this would be a great time to have a quick lesson...
These little ones will grow into the Orangestriped Oakworm Moth or Anisota Senatoria. August is peak feeding and crawling season! The last two pictures are of the adult moths.
According to NC State Extension, the moths "emerge in June and July and females deposit up to 500 eggs in clusters of several hundred on the underside of oak leaves."
