This week, Harford County Public Schools new Board of Education members began their terms. These 3 new, at-large members, and the student representative are replacing the Board members whose terms have expired. We thank them for their dedication to Harford County’s school community and wish them well.
Our new HCPS President, Dr. Poynton, has indicated that his focus will be academic achievement! This return to improving overall student academic success is exactly the message most parents are yearning to hear.
After the loss of student learning caused by the Covid closures, I look forward to a successful upcoming school year for our families and students of Harford County Public Schools.

Congratulations to our 3 new appointed Board of Education members who were recently nominated by County Executive Cassilly and approved by the County Council.
I’m sure they will be a welcome addition to our elected school board members.

The final tally of mail-in ballots has been completed. Unfortunately, I dropped from second place to third out of four and therefore will not be a candidate in the November general election.

I want to thank everyone who voted for me and believed in my message that parents deserve a voice in how their children are educated. This must be the number one priority for a school system to succeed. I will continue to be a voice for parents and students to insure a quality education for our children.

I am also thankful to those who donated to my campaign or helped reach out to voters on my behalf, going door to door, displaying a yard sign, or working the polls.
A special shout out to my children Timothy and Pamela who encouraged me and canvassed many neighborhoods with me.
Thank you also to my friend Linda Flint who helped me design my campaign material to get me started, went door to door for me, and put up signs at every opportunity.
Thank you all for your support ❤️

Had a great time walking in the Edgewood-Joppatowne 4th of July parade. There was a nice, enthusiastic crowd watching all of us participating in the parade. The food trucks had very reasonably priced food and the rainy weather held off until the event concluded. What a win-win all around! 🇺🇸

Tonight, I attended the Edgewood Parks and Rec event, “Focus on the Family” Field Day. Lots of good information and resources for the parents, fun activities, and healthy snacks!
My daughter Pamela was brave enough to race inside a giant hamster ball!

Today we commemorate Juneteenth Freedom Day. On this date June 19, 1865, Union Army Major Gordon Granger with his troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that henceforth all enslaved people were free! The slaves living in Texas were never told of President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. Let us celebrate freedom for all Americans.
