Many of you may have seen the writing about Yard Waste Pick -Up in the City's Newsletter. I wanted to make sure everyone knows that we are not included in that particular Yard Waste Pick up. Buckingham is doing a separate pick up for Valley Green on October 22, 2025. This is your only chance to dispose of leaves, twigs, branches and brush so please utilize this day to get rid of anything in your yard. All the same rules apply as what is listed in the the newsletter. EVERYTHING (grass clippings, leaves, etc...) will need to be bagged in brown paper compostable bags. Any twigs, branches and brush that needs to be collected can either be bagged in the brown paper compostable bags or bundled with twine. Branches must not exceed 4 feet in length and no bigger than 4" in diameter. NO logs, stumps, or branches larger than the parameters listed in this email will be accepted. No personal compose containers (55 gallon containers) because the driver will not be able to dump them. IF you choose to use this service it is necessary for you to call Buckingham at 952-226-6441, at least 24 hours in advance, to have them drive by your home. Make sure to everything at the curb the afternoon before so you don't miss them.

Call the office with questions.

Sheet pile driving begins May 28
Construction of the Hwy 169 pedestrian underpass is ramping up.

Starting tomorrow, May 28 and lasting about one week, crews will drive steel plates or “sheet piles” into the ground east of Hwy 169 between Creek Ln. and Syndicate St.

If you live or work in the area you should expect intermittent periods of noise, including intense impulsive sounds, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This will create a stable work area for underpass construction.

Crews will also start building a retaining wall in this same area. Work on the retaining wall will continue through fall.

Nearby, the Riesgraf Lions Park parking lot will be closed through the fall to help keep the public a safe distance from construction. If you use the green space at Lions Park, please stay east of the pavilion.

Creek Lane closure
Creek Ln. to/from northbound Hwy 169 was originally expected to reopen mid-July but, will now be closed through the fall due to Sand Creek bridge widening schedule changes. Please continue to use Hwy 282 to access Hwy 169.

Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.

Please drive with care in work zones:
Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

More about this project
We are partnering with the city of Jordan and Scott County to construct a new interchange at Hwy 169 and Hwy 282/Co. Rd. 9 in Jordan starting in spring 2025 through 2027.

Construction will include two bridges, large drainage culverts, two roundabouts, a pedestrian tunnel, sidewalks, retaining walls and noise walls. The project will improve safety and traffic flow and create better connections for pedestrians and bicyclists.

For more information, including construction schedule and upcoming traffic impacts, visit the Hwy 169 and Hwy 282/Co. Rd. 9 project webpage. If you have questions, please contact the project team.

Changes impacting Hwy 169 access in Jordan are expected to begin Wed, April 23.
Starting at 6 p.m. Wed, April 23, the Creek Ln. and Syndicate St. accesses to/from Hwy 169 will be closed to traffic.
• Creek Ln. to/from Hwy 169 will be closed until mid-July
• Syndicate St. to/from Hwy 169 will be permanently closed
Motorists should use Hwy 282 to bypass the road closures.
At the same time, crews will also shift the Hwy 169 travel lanes between Hwy 282 and Hwy 21 into a head-to-head configuration on the southbound lanes. Both directions of Hwy 169 will continue to be reduced to a single lane through the fall.
The closures and lane shifts are necessary to allow crews to complete pedestrian underpass and retaining wall construction along the northbound lanes.
Valley View Drive closure begins April 29
Beginning at 6 p.m. Tue, April 29, Valley View Dr. will be closed at Co. Rd. 9 until late June for roundabout construction. Motorists can bypass the closure by following the detour using Valley View Dr., Syndicate St. and Co. Rd. 9/Quaker Ave.
Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
