Joshua Police Department consist of 15 full-time employees: Chief of Police Captain One (1) Detective Sergeant One (1) Detective Two(2) Patrol Sergeants Eight (7) Patrol Officers One(1) Administrative Assistant (civilian) Joshua Animal Control falls under the authority of the police department: One(1) Animal Control Officer One(1) Shelter Attendant One(1) Part-time Shelter Attendant

Mission: JOSHUA POLICE DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT To enforce the laws of the State of Texas for the safety and welfare of the community while ensuring community relations. To provide high quality, professional services and community involvement. To provide service with commitment to cultivating public trust by respecting individual rights and striving to be fair, just, and responsive to the needs and feeling of our citizens. The mission of the Joshua Police Department is to work with the citizens of Joshua, to fight crime, preserve life and promote individual responsibility and community commitment.

Captain Josh Lyon is retiring after 21 yrs of Law Enforcement service, including 16 yrs serving the City of Joshua. Josh started as a patrol officer in 2004, and served as a Sergeant, Criminal Investigator, Lieutenant, and Captain.
We thank Josh for his dedication and professionalism to the police department and our community.
Thanks to the Joshua Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association for sponsoring the retirement ceremony, held at The Hickory Tree, the JISD culinary department for providing a cake, and to

"During the overnight hours on 6/11/2019, Edison Power Constructors, located on S Burleson Blvd in Burleson, had 5 brand new White Ford F250 heavy duty trucks stolen. One of the trucks was involved in a hit and run this morning between the hours of 0600-0800 near Kentucky Rd and County Road 1004 in the Joshua/Godley area of Johnson County. The trucks may or may not be marked with the company logo (see last picture). If anyone recognizes or locates one these trucks, please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Tri County Auto Theft Task Force at 817-728-3910 or at [email protected]."

The Joshua Police Department invites you to attend our Citizens Police Academy beginning February 19, 2019. The Academy is 10 weeks, meeting weekly on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. We will cover topics such as; Patrol Procedures, Mental Health Emergencies, Criminal Investigations, Police Records, Crime Scene, Building Searches, and Traffic Stops. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the officers at the Joshua Police Department. DEA Take Back Day October 2018 CC

The Joshua Police Department will be participating in the DEA National Take Back day on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 from 10AM - 2PM. Joshua PD will be set up at the Joshua Community YMCA, 1009 Joshua Station Blvd.

The DEA National Take Back is a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. It provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Intra-venous solutions, injectable items, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.

Our hearts are heavy this morning as we hear the news that Fort Worth Police officer Garrett Hull passed away last night. Officer Hull was shot yesterday as he and other FWPD officers were attempting to take several robbery suspects into custody. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and his FWPD family.

August 29th at about 1:30pm a North bound Amtrak train carrying 77 passengers struck a van owned by Team Hope Air at FM 917 and Santa Fe. Preliminary investigation indicates the van went around railroad crossing arms. The single occupant of the van was extricated and transported to JPS in Ft Worth by AMR ground ambulance for treatment of injuries. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening and no injuries were reported on board the Amtrak train. Items were thrown from the van breaking windows in the city’s Animal Control building adjacent to the track with no injuries reported.
BNSF, the operator of the rail, is on scene for their investigation. All roads impacted have been reopened.

In the mid 1960's, the police department was developed, with it's first part-time policeman. The first salaries paid a part-time policemen were forty dollars per month, which was by law what must be paid in order to carry a weapon. The first salaries paid a part-time policeman in Joshua was in late 1969. At this time, Joshua had a part-time policeman and several reserve policeman, in addition to the first paid full-time policeman.
