🚔National Police Week 2026

Every year, the week containing May 15th is designated as National Police Week — a tradition that dates back to 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation recognizing the men and women of law enforcement, who dedicate their lives to keeping America safe.

This week, ceremonies will be held in Washington D.C. and across the country to honor the law enforcement profession and remember those who gave everything in service to their communities.

Atascosa County has eight names etched on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. alongside over 24,000 others— officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving the people of this county.

We carry their memory with us.

President Kennedy's words still ring true today: "...these men and women have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and in doing so have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens"

This week we pause to recognize that commitment — and to say thank you to every officer serving in Atascosa County and across this great nation.

Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mothers in our community — and a special acknowledgment to the women of the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office who answer the call to serve while also answering the most important call of all...being a mom.

To our female deputies and staff who balance the badge with motherhood, we see you, we appreciate you, and we are grateful for everything you give to this agency and to your families.

Happy Mother's Day. 💐

If you steal cars, expect a visit from ACSO.

Every time law enforcement recovers a stolen car, it’s more than just returning property — it brings peace of mind to families and can help lower insurance rates for everyone.

Many recovered cars are found quickly through strong investigative work, license plate readers, and tips from the public.

These successes show that persistence pays off.

Whether it’s a car found intact or parts recovered from chop shops, each recovery helps reduce theft in our neighborhoods and gives victims a chance to move forward.

Huge thanks to our patrol deputies who are working hard every day to track down and return stolen vehicles.

If your vehicle has been stolen, report it immediately and stay in touch with your local law enforcement — many are recovered!

And if you spot something suspicious, speak up. Together we can help keep our streets safer.

Yesterday the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office gave a warm send-off to our senior jail nurse, Blanca Lugo, who retired with 25 years of service to Atascosa County.

It takes a special person to work in the medical field while at the same time working in a correctional facility. We are thankful for Blanca and the years she has dedicated to taking care of those in the jail.

Enjoy your well earned retirement, Nurse Lugo!

🚨 OPERATION BUZZKILL

THREE STORES, THREE SEARCH WARRANTS, ARRESTS MADE

This morning deputies from the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office Special Operation Unit served search warrants and made arrests at two of three Atascosa County businesses following a month-long undercover investigation into the illegal sale of THC products.

The investigation was launched after complaints from residents and local school districts concerned about juveniles obtaining illegal THC products.

The following locations were served this morning:

📍 Purple Haze V**e & Smoke Shop
2044 West Oaklawn Road — Pleasanton, TX

📍 Valero-Lucky Fuel Station (Jimmy's)
307 Zanderson Ave — Jourdanton, TX
(Directly across from Jourdanton High School)

📍 Street Farms Dispensary #2
15101 Main Street — Lytle, TX

During the course of this investigation multiple locations were found to be selling illegal THC products, with one in close proximity to a school. Evidence gathered during this investigation indicates these products were being sold to both adults and minors. Over $29,000 in cash was seized and is subject to forfeiture under Texas law.

We recognize that people hold different opinions about THC products. Regardless of where you stand on that debate, we can all agree on one thing — selling these products to minors and near schools is never acceptable. That is what this investigation was about.

Arrested today:
🔴 Linda Jackson
🔴 Sandhu Gurinderjit
Additional arrests are pending

Both were charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance — Penalty Group 2/2A, 4-400 grams — 1st Degree Felony

When our school districts and residents raise concerns — we listen and we act.

In Atascosa County, illegal means illegal. If your business is selling illegal products, expect a visit from us.

To report illegal THC sales contact Atascosa County Crime Stoppers at 830-769-2255

BOLO to Booking- Burglary & Drug Arrests

In the early morning hours of Friday, April 25th, the Super Stop convenience store in the 16000 block of Highway 16 was burglarized. Suspects used chains and straps to rip the front door completely off the building.

Video evidence captured the suspect vehicle. A BOLO was issued, and deputies went to work.

In less than 12 hours, the vehicle was located and stopped on a traffic stop. That stop resulted in the arrest of Freddie Jacinto and Crystal Flores, both of San Antonio, on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance ( Methamphetamine). Evidence connecting the vehicle to the burglary scene was also recovered.

However, the work didn't stop there.

Follow-up investigation by our Criminal Investigations Division led to a confession by Jacinto and an additional charge of Burglary of a Building.

This investigation remains ongoing. Additional suspects may face charges.

Outstanding teamwork by our Patrol and CID Divisions working together to quickly solve both a property crime and a drug case for residents in northern Atascosa County.
