In celebration of Arbor Day in April of 2026, Sherri Brandt with the Natural Resources Conservation Service spoke to the 4th Graders at both Julesburg Elementary and Revere Elementary about the importance of trees. Sherri taught the kids about the economic, environmental, and social benefits of trees and helped the kids do several activities relating to these benefits. She also went over tree planting methods and tree care. At the end of the presentation, on behalf of the Sedgwick County Conservation District, each 4th grader was presented with a Colorado Blue Spruce seedling tree and a certificate naming them a “4th Grade Forester of Colorado”. The Julesburg 4th graders had noticed that there were some dead trees in the windbreak near the school entrance so under the guidance of Sherri, they replanted three new trees.
Thanks Sherri and NRCS!
