It is with profound sadness that the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office mourns the passing of Phillips County Sheriff Mike Beard.
Sheriff Beard was more than a neighboring sheriff—he was a trusted partner, a mentor, and a true friend to our agency. Mike was always willing to answer the call whenever we needed help. Whether it was personally coming to assist with training, sending one of his deputies during times of need, or simply offering guidance, he never hesitated to support us.
On a personal level, I had the privilege of speaking with Mike nearly every week. He was always just a phone call away, ready to listen, offer advice, or lend a helping hand. His leadership, kindness, and unwavering dedication to serving others made a lasting impact on me, our deputies, and countless others throughout northeastern Colorado.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sheriff Beard’s family, the men and women of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office, and the entire Phillips County community as they navigate this tremendous loss. We also pray that God grants Mike eternal peace and welcomes him home.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Rest easy, Sheriff Beard. Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the example you set for all of us. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in those you inspired.
