📣 REMINDER! 📣

The Geary County HHW/Recycling Center and Landfill will NOT be open tomorrow April 11th. Instead we have moved our Saturday opening to April 25th to align with the upcoming City/County Clean Up Week!

With it's normal operating hours, the Geary County Transfer Station will be open, tomorrow from 8am - 2pm.

✨ Introducing Noxious W**d Wednesdays! ✨

For the next five weeks, each Wednesday, we will share facts about the five most prevalent Noxious W**ds found in Geary County. As of right now, the state of Kansas has declared 12 w**ds as noxious. The noxious w**d of this week will be Bur Ragw**d.

🚧🚧 Geary County Public Works crews will be starting crack sealing operations today. Crews are expected to complete 12.5 miles of McDowell Creek Road from I77 to Interstate 70. This will also be the chip seal route for 2026.

Important Update! 👀

ALERT: A portion of I-70 is expected to close overnight for bridge replacement in Junction City to place bridge girders and continue progressing on the bridge replacement at J-Hill Road:

• At 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, WB I-70 will temporarily close at J-Hill Road and reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 7.
• At 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, EB I-70 will temporarily close at J-Hill Road and reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 9.

During the closures, traffic will be diverted up and down the interchange ramps, and local traffic will be unable to access I-70 at exit 299 (J-Hill Road).

King Construction of Hesston is the prime contractor of the bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to be complete by July, conditions permitting. For more info on highway construction, visit kandrive.gov.

Today brings a special celebration in our department! 🎉One of our employees, Steve Meyer, is retiring after being with the County for about 15 years. To help send him off, we asked him to answer some questions! We will celebrate him later this afternoon so pictures will be shared next week!

ALERT: Resurfacing to begin Monday on 16mi of U.S. 77 in Geary Co.

Work will occur from the Geary/Riley co. line to the I-70/U.S. 77 jct in Junction City. Motorists should expect one lane traffic at a reduced speed during work inside Junction City. Traffic outside the city will be reduced to 1 lane controlled by a pilot car.
