Day Four is in the books. We started the day with a hearty breakfast followed by a class on bullying and social media footprint safety. We also had fun with a scavenger hunt throughout Rock Springs Ranch. The afternoon was filled with mountain biking, a great pizza dinner provided by Casey's, and we topped it off with our awards ceremony. The past four days have flown by and we think all of the kids learned a lot about teamwork and leadership while they challenged themselves.

So we missed posting day three but to be fair, it was a full day. The day started with horseback riding, a mixture of rifles and archery. If that wasn't enough, we had canoeing and trap shooting. The night was finished with a delicious dinner graciously donated by El Patron Dos. And if that wasn't enough, we finished with movie night.

The second day of camp shield was filled with activities, including classes on drug education and prevention, K9 capabilities and demonstrations, further development of teamwork skills through participation in the giant swing challenge, and law enforcement vehicle and equipment static display. Additionally the kids got to meet the sheriff who shared some words of wisdom on leadership and the importance of team work.

The initial day of Camp SHIELD kicked off with kids arriving to camp, participating in a day filled with team building, leadership development, and fun activities to bring it all together, including low ropes and cooperation games, as well as presentations on healthy communication skills from community speakers.

***PSA*** Only 3 weeks left until Camp S.H.I.E.L.D. If you have a child(ren) who attend USD 475, or if they simply reside in Geary County, between the ages of 10-13 this is for them!!! Are you interested in sending them to a FREE week of camp where they will learn about team building, leadership skills, "say no to bullying", social media safety, or drug alcohol and va**ng prevention, look no further!!!! You still have time to submit an application! Camp S.H.I.E.L.D. will take place May 27th- May 31st. So stop on by the Geary County Sheriff's Office to pick up an application or you can email us to request one.
