📢 Updated Office Hours – Geary County Health Department

At the April 27, 2026 meeting, the Commission approved a trial run for modified office hours across County offices.

Here are the updated hours for the Geary County Health Department:

🕗 Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
🕗 Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

These new hours will begin on June 1, 2026. You’ll also see updated hours posted on the County website and on office doors in May.

We want to help spread the word about the healthy food options available at our local markets! The Geary Community Farmers Market is open Thursdays from 4–7 PM, and the Junction City Main Street Market is open Saturdays from 9 AM–1 PM—both located at 9th & Washington, May through September.

Both markets participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, helping increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables for SNAP participants.

Here’s how it works:

17 more days until the first market! Can you taste the fresh fruits and veggies??? Can you smell the fresh baked bread or cinnamon rolls?

Each week both Thursday and Saturday Junction City Markets participates in the Double Up Food Bucks program to increase access to fruits and vegetables for SNAP participants! Stop by every Thursday and Saturday to shop local and get free fruits and vegetables.
🥦🥒🥬
Here’s how it works:
• BRING your SNAP-EBT card to the farmers market information tent before you shop. Market staff are there to help!
• BUY SNAP-eligible foods at the farmers market with your SNAP-EBT!
• GET free matching dollars – up to $25 per market day – to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables!

We had a wonderful time at Books, Balls & Blocks event during Healthy Kids Day at the Junction City Family YMCA on Saturday! It was great connecting with so many families and sharing resources like immunizations, case management services (food/cash assistance, insurance), and car seat support.

We also spread the word about upcoming Safe Kids Geary County events happening in May and August and were happy to give away free donated formula to families in our community. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

It’s National Cleaning Week! Did you know that liquid laundry packets are designed to dissolve in water? That means if they come into contact with a child’s wet hands or mouth, they can quickly release concentrated chemicals. Keep your little ones safe by storing these packets out of reach and sight. Always keep them in their original container with the lid securely closed.
