Regardless of the service, it is our primary goal to provide the best service we can to all the citizens of Junction City. Currently, Public Works is responsible for the operations of the following departments within the City:

Junction City residents, please be aware that paving work will be taking place on Saturday, August 29 on Farmington Avenue as well as the West end of 11th Avenue near Darlington in The Reserve.

The work should not impact traffic, but residents in the area may experience some noise while the paving work is underway.

Important Notice – Max Strauss Pool Air Quality Policy

For the health and safety of our swimmers, staff, and visitors, Max Strauss Pool will be closed any time the Air Quality Index (AQI) for Junction City reaches 151 or higher on Fire and Smoke Map (fire.airnow.gov).

At an AQI of 151 or above, the air is considered Unhealthy, meaning everyone—not just those with respiratory conditions—may experience health effects. Swimming and other outdoor physical activities increase the amount of air you breathe, which can lead to:

Irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat
Coughing and difficulty breathing
Reduced lung function
Worsening of asthma and other heart or lung conditions
Increased health risks for children, older adults, and other sensitive groups

We understand this may be inconvenient, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption to your plans. However, the safety of our community is our top priority.

🚧 ROAD WORK NOTICE – Chip Seal Project 🚧

Lane County will be completing a chip seal road preservation project in and around Junction City July 21 – August 6.

📍 Deal Street (10th Avenue to Ivy Street) is scheduled for July 22 – July 29.
Please note: Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather and other conditions.

If you live in the work area:
🚗 Please remove all vehicles from the street before work begins and keep them off the roadway until work is complete.
🚦 Expect temporary traffic delays and limited street access.
🐢 Drive slowly after the chip seal is applied. Loose rock will be present for a short time while the new surface cures.
🏠 Access to homes will be maintained whenever possible, but brief delays may occur.

Thank you for your patience as Lane County completes this important road preservation work to help extend the life of our streets.

💦Upcoming Hydrant Flushing Dates: June 8-12, 2026

Every so often, Junction City Public Works staff open fire hydrants throughout the City and allow the water to flow through the pipes. Our hydrant flushing program is very important to our water system. It is an integral part of our ongoing effort to deliver the safest and highest quality water possible. It serves the following purposes:
• It flushes sediments from mainline pipes (which enhances water quality)
• It verifies the proper operation of fire hydrants and valves
• It helps us find weaknesses in our water system
• It checks for closed valves and weak flows in the mainlines
