💙🖤 ONE FINAL THANK YOU, CHIEF 🖤💙
Today is one of those days we knew would eventually come, but somehow, we still weren’t ready for it.
Today, the Grandview Plaza Police Department says goodbye to a leader, a mentor, a friend, and a member of our family as Chief Shawn Peirano officially begins his well-deserved retirement.
Chief, for more than two decades, you have given so much of yourself to law enforcement and to the Grandview Plaza community. You joined our department in 2004, and since becoming Chief of Police in 2013, you have carried the responsibility of this department on your shoulders with dedication, strength, and pride.
But to those of us who had the privilege of working beside you, you were so much more than the badge and the title of “Chief.”
You were the person we could call when we needed guidance. You were the voice of experience when situations became difficult. You were someone who stood behind your officers, taught us lessons that cannot be learned from a textbook, and reminded us what it truly means to serve a community.
There were long days, even longer nights, difficult calls, stressful moments, plenty of laughs, and memories that will stay within these walls long after today.
You watched officers walk through these doors at the beginning of their careers. You helped train them, guide them, encourage them, and watched many of them grow into the officers and leaders they are today.
That is a legacy no retirement date can ever take away.
Chief, there are simply not enough words to thank you for everything you have done for this department.
Thank you for the sacrifices you made behind the scenes that most people will never know about.
Thank you for answering the phone when one of us needed you.
Thank you for the advice, the stories, the laughs, the lessons, and even the tough conversations.
Thank you for believing in your officers.
Thank you for standing beside us.
Thank you for protecting this community.
And most importantly, thank you for being our Chief.
Grandview Plaza will feel a little different without you here.
The office will be different. The department will be different. And for those of us who have spent so many years working beside you, there will always be a piece of this department that carries your influence.
As difficult as it is to see this chapter close, we couldn’t be happier for you as you begin the next one.
After all the years of putting the department, your officers, and this community first, it is finally time for you to put yourself first.
Sleep in. Turn the radio off. Ignore the phone. Enjoy your family. Make memories. Travel. Relax. And enjoy every minute of the retirement you worked so hard to earn.
Chief Peirano, you may be turning in the badge and stepping away from the position, but you will always be part of the Grandview Plaza Police Department family.
Your chair may be empty.
Your office may belong to someone else.
But the lessons you taught, the officers you influenced, the friendships you built, and the impact you made on this community will remain.
So, from the officers and staff who had the honor of serving beside you:

Thank you for the years.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for your leadership.
Thank you for your friendship.
And thank you for giving so much of your life to this department and the citizens of Grandview Plaza.
This isn’t goodbye.
It’s simply the end of one watch and the beginning of a new adventure.
