August I received my 8th city paycheck. I divide my pay between money for taxes, mutual funds for my future, tithing into the community, and pocket money to spend as I desire for clothing, food, and events. As always, here's a breakdown of how I spent it:

📍As a City Commissioner I get paid $700 before taxes, $609.18 after some taxes. I request they take as little taxes as possible so I can take the money that would usually go towards taxes and invest it before I pay it back to the government.

💲 $119.18 for taxes invested into mutual funds. I specifically purchase "SWLGX" Schwab US Large-Cap Growth Index Fund.

💼 $300 invested into mutual funds for my future as a young adult. This fund is "SWPPX" Schwab S&P 500 Index Fund.

⛽️ $100 to spend on myself, which this month went towards gas money during my time out of officd.

❤️ $90 is reserved for community tithing. This month I chose to donate to Pawnee Mental Health Services in honor of my friend who passed this weekend.

It was my plan to get home from my time out of office and jump right back into the game Sunday. Unfortunately Sunday I received news that a very near and dear friend of mine passed away, and we have been dealing with the waves of grief ever since. Of course the streaming system ran into issues the one meeting I am joining remotely - must have thought it could get away with acting up in my absence. Sadly my microphone is not working with their connectivity issues, so although I am attending via-team calls, I am providing my votes non-verbally using Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, and will be providing my commentary in the call chat and the livestream chat. The next Joint Meeting for City, County, and Board of Education is August 24th at 5:30 p.m. at the CL Hoover Opera House. I will not be able to attend as I will be out of office during that time, but I encourage those who are able to attend to do so.
