Dodge County Independent Living Program

Dodge County Independent Living Program Through the program, youth receive appropriate services in home, school, or community to become a successful adult.

The goal of the Independent Living program is to help youth who have out of home care experience become successful adults through the attainment of much-needed life skills, and connecting them to their community. Overall, life skills help youth through the adolescent years by teaching them to steer clear of irresponsible decisions, and make healthy food choices. Life skills enable youth to manage money responsibly, and even stand up to unhealthy peer pressure.

As the children in their care enter their senior year of high school, kin/grandfamily caregivers will be thinking about what comes next, including, potentially, higher education and how to pay for it.

Do you know about Emergency Assistance (EA) payments? They can help you:
• Pay a utility bill if service has been stopped
• Pay a security deposit on a new apartment if you have been evicted
• Stop an eviction from your current apartment

EA helps families in urgent situations by connecting them to resources.

It's about that time again! This years Graduation for youth in foster care will be taking place on JULY 22ND from 3:30-5:30 at the Governors executive residence.

Are YOU graduating this year or perhaps you graduated last year after July? Let your caseworker or myself know so we can get you RSVP'd! I hear there is even a gift involved, not to mention getting to meet the governor!

The 11th annual Foster Youth Graduation Celebration was held today at the Executive Residence to honor a special group of Wisconsin students. Governor Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers joined Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Emilie Amundson in recognizing foster youth who recently graduated from high school, completed milestones in post-secondary education, or who attained other educational achievements.
