A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO PUCKER WILSON'S
Tonight, Our warming Shelter guests were treated to w wonderful dinner generously donated by Pucker Wilson's. and the response was nothing short of amazing.

As Meals were served, we heard comments like:
"WOW, I feel special today!"
"I've always want to try Pucker Wilson's!"
"These are amazing!"
"I'll sleep well tonight!"

The dining room was filled with smiles, gratitude, hugs and repeated "thank you" from our guests. What may seem like a meal to some became an experience of kindness, dignity, and community for many.

To the team at Pucker Wilson's, thank you for your generosity and for supporting our neighbors in need . Your donation did more than provide dinner - lifted spirits, created joy, and reminded our guests that hey valued members of this community.

We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and continued community support.

From all of us at the Warming Shelter - especially from our guests - THANK YOU!!

From October 15 to April 15, the Warming Shelter has provided 7,255 beds at an average of 40 guests a night. This is a drop of 5 individuals a night from the previous two years.

For the previous two years,, this day has been the end of our Warming Shelter contract. We would be closing up and cleaning up the Thane Warehouse shelter area. People would be looking for camping spaces or other areas for shelter.

This year we will remain open. Our hours of operation will remain the same, with an adjustment on Saturday to fit Capital Transits needs.

We are grateful to all the support shown. We accept the challenge of our neighbors to continue to provide services that support our community

Keeping homeless facility open until June 30 instead of closing April 15 passes unanimously; vote also means year-round funds will be included in next year’s proposed budget.

The assembly will make its decision on April 6 after a public hearing during its monthly meeting.

City officials say it would help address Juneau’s current lack of shelter space and housing units, and would reduce the number of unhoused people camping during the summer months.

While time is short as our contract is scheduled to end April 15, but the Committee of the Whole will consider this tonight. If it progresses, there will be a hearing before any action is taken.

Assembly on Monday may introduce proposal to keep shelter open until June 30 instead of April 15, with an eye on further expansion due to struggles with ‘dispersed camping’ policy.

Anchorage’s point in time count is similar to Juneau’s. Our preliminary canvassing also indicates a slight decrease in unhoused numbers. Most likely due to extra housing first units being opened.

The municipality’s transition to year-round shelter is a change advocates are hopeful will be reflected in the data generated by this year’s point-in-time count.

Our manager put out a request for blanket donations last night. We are grateful for the quick community support. Small blankets can be dropped off at the shelter during operational hours or dropped off at our smith hall offices.

We cannot use electrical cooking appliances as much as we would like to. The warming shelter has limited electricity capacity and our staff does an amazing job with our limited facilities.

Gunalcheesh for the community generosity
