Today we’re at Conrady Junior High School for their 8th Grade Career Fair! 🚒🚑

Our crew is excited to talk with students about careers in the fire service, EMS, public safety, and what it takes to serve the community. Whether it’s firefighting, paramedicine, fire prevention, technical rescue, public education, or leadership roles behind the scenes — there are so many paths within the fire service.

We love opportunities like this to connect with the next generation and hopefully inspire a few future firefighters and paramedics along the way. 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

Chief went to one too many leadership conferences about “bridging generational gaps in the workplace,” and now this is what we’re doing. 🚒✨

No matter how you phrase it:
• test your smoke alarms
• know your address when calling 911
• move over for emergency vehicles
• don’t park by hydrants
• and energy drinks are still not hydration

Public safety… but make it relatable.

At the end of the day, EMS is about people.

The people answering the calls.
The people behind the scenes.
The people serving this community every day.

Some moments are stressful.
Some are emotional.
Some are chaotic.
And some become memories and friendships that last a lifetime.

🚑 EMS Week — Day 4 Did You Know?

No two shifts are ever the same.

One day may involve:
🚑 a medical emergency
🔥 a vehicle fire
🩺 patient care
🚗 a crash on the highway
🏠 helping someone after a fall
💉 advanced medical treatment
🚒 assisting on a fire scene

That unpredictability is part of what makes EMS both challenging and rewarding.

🚑 EMS Week — Day 1 Did You Know?

Before the first 911 call ever comes in, the work has already started.

Every shift begins with:
✔ checking equipment
✔ testing monitors
✔ restocking medications
✔ preparing the ambulance
✔ making sure everything is ready for the day

Because when emergencies happen, there’s no time to realize something is missing.

This is where the shift begins.

🚑 This week is EMS Week — a time to recognize the paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, firefighters, nurses, hospital staff, and healthcare professionals who work together every day to provide emergency medical care to our communities.

This year’s EMS Week theme is:“Improving Outcomes. Together.”

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the reality of EMS — from training and preparation to community outreach, emergency response, teamwork, and the moments most people never see.

EMS is about much more than ambulance rides and flashing lights. It’s about people, preparation, compassion, teamwork, and being ready when our community needs us most.

🚒 Roberts Park Fire Protection District – April 2026 Recap 🚑

April was another busy month for the members of Roberts Park Fire Protection District as our crews continued responding to emergencies, advancing their training, and connecting with the community through education and outreach.

Incident Activity

Throughout April, our members remained ready to respond whenever called upon, providing emergency medical care, fire suppression, and all-hazard response services to the residents and visitors within our district.

Training & Professional Development

Training remained a major focus throughout the month, with members completing an impressive 932 training hours — one of the highest monthly training totals our department has recorded.

Of those hours, 215 were dedicated to live fire training, including:
• Roberts Park Spring Live Fire Evolutions with Bedford Park and Bridgeview
• Bedford Park’s spring burn training days

Additional training accomplishments included:
• Members attending the Basic Company Officer Course through the Illinois Fire Service Institute at the Oak Lawn Drill Tower
• Two members completing the OSFM Instructor II Course
• Three members completing OSFM Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue
• One member completing OSFM Heavy Vehicle Rescue

We were especially proud to see one of the largest turnouts of off-shift part-time members participating in our live burn training days, demonstrating the dedication our members have to continuously improving their skills and serving the community.

Community Engagement

In addition to emergency response and training, our crews remained active in the community throughout April.

Members visited Glen Oaks Elementary School to speak with third grade students about fire safety, the history of firefighting, and the equipment we use to serve the community.

We also attended the Hills Chamber of Commerce Senior Resource Fair, where crews had the opportunity to connect with residents, answer questions, and provide information about available resources and services.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our members every day through emergency response, training, and community outreach. Thank you for your continued support of Roberts Park Fire Protection District.
