Pulling a camper with your pickup? 100mph on Interstate 90 is not the way to get to your camping spot!

This driver was cited for speeding and careless driving.

There have been 12 crash fatalities in 6 days. Drive the speed limit, watch for motorcycles, and wear your seatbelt. This is one of many 100mph + citations our office has issued and we’re only into the 3rd day of Sturgis Rally.

Speeding Catches Up With You. ✋🚘

At 3:15 this afternoon, Kadoka Fire Dept received a report of a large grassfire 7 miles northwest of Kadoka. Arriving units found a fire pushing through a hayfield but were able to stop forward progress and are currently in mop up stages. We appreciate the interagency response that Philip VFD provided.

Agencies responding: Pennington County 911, Winner Dispatch, Kadoka Volunteer Fire Dept, Philip volunteer Fire Dept. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Area Ranchers.

It is a hot one today in Jackson County with a high of 99 degrees.

If you’re driving faster than that on Interstate 90 that’s a great way to meet your state and local law enforcement! One driver was stopped for 109mph in an 80mph zone. (See photo)

On July 16, 2026 at approximately 1401 hours the Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Kadoka Volunteer Fire Department responded to a small grass fire North of exit 150 on Interstate 90.
