-- The Kahoka Police Department would like to warn it's residents and businesses of counterfeit money circulating through the community.

In the last few days multiple fake bills have been used at local businesses.

The counterfeit money is in the denomination of twenty-dollar bills with the same serial. The bills also have the words "prop copy" stamped on the backside of the bill.

Please remain diligent in inspecting money and to report any suspicious activity to the Kahoka Police Department or the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

On the bills we have taken custody of the words "prop copy" has been removed leaving a hole in the bill

The same scams are making their way around again. We have heard about the IRS and Social Security so far. Both of which will threaten you with an arrest warrant issued if you do not cooperate. This is a scam. Sometime their number will even show up as a local number for either the Sheriff's Office or even the Police Department. Rest a sure it is a scam. If a warrant was issued for you the men in blue or brown would come knocking. IRS and Social Security will never call and asked for your information, so please do not give it out to anyone by phone unless you called them directly. Have a safe and great weekend.
