“The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness” 🌿
Rhonda Dee Freedman was a local girl from Kona, Big Island. Her heart was big, and she embodied the true spirit of aloha—proud of her Hawaiian culture, always giving, and spreading kindness wherever she went. On July 14, 2022, that spirit was stolen by a reckless, drunk driver who took her life in a head-on collision, with no consideration for anyone but himself. 💔
Now, her killer is being accommodated with a plea deal, while Rhonda’s family fights to be included in the proceedings, still enduring the pain and suffering of their loss. The prosecutor has offered him leniency, but what about justice for the victim? ⚖️ What about the rights of victims and their families? Rhonda’s family was never consulted, and the community has been kept in the dark about the legal process.
This is not just about one family. It’s about the need for change in Hawaii—a need for victims to have more rights, for transparency in legal proceedings, and for true justice. 🙏 The "Aloha Spirit Law" calls for citizens and government officials to use compassion, respect, and justice, and yet this plea deal goes against everything the law stands for. You can read more about this law here: Aloha Spirit Law 🌐.
