Costco pizza! If you have a Costco membership you are probably very aware of the pizza or hotdog special they offer. We use ours while traveling! Cost of eating out has grown exponentially so to save money we find the local Costco and grabbed food from there while we are on our trip! We’ve even stopped, gotten a few pizzas, ate and kept driving! We often call it in to save a few minutes too!

Spring Break Tip #6: What extra skills do you want your kids to learn? Do you have friends that are experts? For example: A lady in our church is skilled at sewing! Reach out to see if they might be willing to teach your kids a small project!?

Cooking contests!!! Our family has had so much fun having cooking contests within our household! We have broken into teams or let them pick, then they have to pick a day and plan it all. They have to use what is in the house (a few times we splurged and they could spend $25) and it teaches them to be creative!!! We’ve eaten so well during contest times and I love the skills the kids are picking up! We even have them decorate the table!!!

Anyone else use Groupon!? Our family uses it fairly often while traveling! (Double check all the small print…but we’ve used it for years for wonderful adventures at a discount!) Once we used it to go on a beach tour in San Diego with a local marine biologist!)

Divided meals have been a budget-friendly solution for us when we need to eat out ; besides encouraging collaboration amongst our kids, it additionally helps avoid unnecessary wastage of food.
(Example: we alllllways have leftover fries so I’ll buy one meal and an extra hamburger or drink… Another example is when an entree has two sides. We each pick one side and split the entree.)

Foster closets!!! I used to feel terrible about going to them thinking that I was admitting I couldn’t afford to care for kids! One time I had two pregnant teens and I felt terrible I couldn’t afford to keep up with their needs so went to a foster closet!!! It was amazing and we loved interacting and getting to know the staff! Check out your local foster closets!!!! Check out your local closet!!
