As we celebrate the launch of the Landing Place - Kalamazoo County's new family shelter - we know the shelter access process can feel confusing as new programs are rolled out.

Clear information matters—especially when families are seeking support.

To help, we’re sharing a guide to how shelter access works, including the role of Coordinated Entry and what to expect when seeking placement.

Our goal is to increase transparency, reduce confusion, and help our community better understand the process—even as we work to meet high demand with limited resources.

📢 Community Update: Wildwood on West Apartments
We are aware of the recent news regarding condemnation notices for Wildwood on West Apartments , a situation that has caused serious disruption and uncertainty for many residents. Our thoughts are with the tenants and families who are being impacted during an already challenging housing crisis.

As we learn more and seek to understand the facts as to how tenants may be impacted immediately and in the long-term, people are also beginning to reach out. We are aware that people may need help navigating next steps. For now, HRI is collecting information from tenants that reach out to us so we can better understand their immediate needs and identify potential assistance and referrals.

We will continue to listen and gather information as this situation develops. 💙
