Working four years for the Michigan Legislature, serving as a legislative aide and constituent service director expanded my awareness of the impact of government. My love of serving people, the experienc
e and lessons while in these positions were fulfilling
and educational. It was during this time I learned seeking resident and stakeholder input are key elements to successful communities. My previous service includes, Trustee of the Oshtemo Township Board, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Oshtemo Parks Committee, and Friends of the Parks Committee. Since taking the role of Supervisor, I have served in regional cooperations
such as the Utility Policy Committee, Kalamazoo Regional Water and Waste Water Commission and Kalamazoo Area Transportation Study Policy Committee. Principled leadership that works to align resident needs with the robust growth of Oshtemo is what I pledge to continue to bring as Supervisor. I am the daughter of a 3rd generation farm family. My father, a Viet Nam Veteran, a former UAW autoworker
and full-time farmer, stressed the importance of current events and voting. Education, hard work and environmental stewardship were lessons instilled early. Attending Mattawan Schools, I went on to Kalamazoo Valley Community College and graduated from Western Michigan University. My husband, Curtis, and I have three children – two are graduates of Kalamazoo College and our third is a rising junior at the
University of Michigan. Building strong communities takes vision and collaboration. I have the vision to address the varying needs of a growing urban and suburban community, along with the foresight to protect the environment that is so important to our future. As Supervisor, I have had the ability to strengthen and develop ordinances and policies that respect the rights of all people. There have already been amazing things happening, and I am committed to providing transparency and balance in ways that enhance the lives of all the people. It
would be a privilege to continue to serve as Supervisor of Oshtemo Charter Township.
