This month, we’re celebrating Montana’s great outdoors—from learning how to stay safe in bear country to supporting pollinators and giving back to our public lands. Join us for:

🐻 Wild & Aware: Bear Basics for Safe Adventures
Tuesday, Sept. 16 | 6–7 PM
In honor of Bear Aware Month, build confidence for recreating safely in bear country! Learn to identify black vs. grizzly bears, understand their behavior, and practice using bear spray with inert canisters. Hands-on, fun, and perfect for all outdoor adventurers!

🌸 Pollinator Party
Tuesday, Sept. 23 | 6–8 PM
Buzz on over and celebrate pollinators with the Flathead Conservation District and Lone Pine State Park! Take home a fall pollinator seed giveaway, learn practical tips for supporting pollinators, enjoy refreshments, and have fun connecting with fellow nature lovers. Perfect for all ages!

👣Ready to feel more confident in the outdoors? In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to read topographic maps, use a compass, and plan your route—skills that will help you navigate with ease and peace of mind.

Whether you’re new to exploring or looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop offers a fun, supportive space to build your confidence and connect with other adventurous women. With a map in your hand and a compass to guide you, Montana’s wild places will feel even more welcoming.

Hey rising 2nd–4th graders! Ready to explore, play, and earn your Junior Ranger badge? Join us for two action-packed Monday mornings of nature fun in the Picnic Shelter!

🦷 Monday, July 21 (Week 1): Become a wildlife detective! Get hands-on with animal skulls and pelts as we figure out who eats what and why their teeth, skulls, and fur look the way they do. Games, clues, and creatures galore!

🥾 Monday, July 28 (Week 2): Learn how to protect nature like a real ranger! We’ll explore the Leave No Trace principles, then head out on a short hike to practice keeping the forest wild and clean.

🎖️ Come to one or both! Finish both weeks and earn your Junior Ranger Badge!

Are you interested in a proposed forestry project at Lone Pine State Park? FWP is hosting a public meeting at the Visitor Center on July 1 at 6 pm to review the proposed project and answer any questions.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is proposing a forest thinning and tree planting project at Lone Pine State Park in Kalispell. The purpose of the project is to improve the overall forest health and timber stand diversity of the park.

A public meeting will be held at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, 300 Lone Pine Road, on July 1 at 6 pm to review the proposed project and answer any questions.

Do you love native plants and want to make a difference? 🌿 Spring is here, and our Native Plant Garden at Lone Pine State Park is coming to life! We're looking for a passionate volunteer to help it thrive. 🌼

Spend just a few hours a month caring for Montana's native flowers and plants in our Native Plant Garden near the Visitor's Center. Your efforts will inspire visitors and help deepen our community's understanding of native species.
