Wednesdays = Community Potluck Lunch!
We hope you can bring something to the table.
There are so many meaningful ways to support the mission of the Flathead Warming Center. While our doors stay open and the work continues inside, we’re inviting community members to help us nourish our guests by contributing to our weekly Wednesday Community Potluck Lunch through September.
We welcome you to join in by bringing an item for our table — desserts, side salads, fruit, or other meal contributions. Every dish adds comfort, dignity, and connection.

A huge thank you to Taco John's for bringing the flavor with 50 tacos for our Flathead Warming Center Wednesday Community Potluck! Their generosity contributed to our table and that’s truly special!

We’d love for our community to join in on Wednesdays through September by adding fruits, sides, or simple extras to the spread.
Our table builds community, one delicious dish at a time.
If you want to help keep the table full for those in need, we invite you to drop by with something to add to a Wednesday potluck.

Thanks to the generosity of the community of Saint Matthew’s Church who gave so generously through the Knights of Columbus Lenten Food Drive, our shelter guests will have several summer lunches covered. From tuna and chicken to soups, fruits, pasta, chili, rice, and more, the donations were absolutely incredible.

Special thanks to Monda Zorn for choosing such practical, thoughtful items and to Ken, John, and Larry for delivering everything.

And a freezer! What a game‑changer!

Thank you all for your generosity and heart. You are a significant example of how

HAVE YOU HEARD?
The Flathead Warming Center is MUCH MORE than a bed! We are celebrating another record breaking season of:
Positive Outcomes!

As we wrap up our 7th winter season, we’re reflecting on what truly matters inside our doors. At the Flathead Warming Center, shelter is only the beginning. More than a bed means walking alongside our guests through our individualized Roadmap program and supporting them as they do the hard work of moving toward stability, dignity, and long‑term positive life outcomes.

This year, our front desk became our favorite spot in the entire shelter. It’s BEAUTIFUL! Why? Because it proudly displays the number of individuals who achieved positive outcomes during the winter season. And this year’s number is one we’re celebrating with full hearts:

We are proud to share that 59 individual reached the positive outcome metrics that guide our mission forward.

47 moved into housing
12 entered recovery

(And these are just the ones that we have been able to track!)

These numbers represent courage, persistence, and hope. They represent people choosing stability, choosing healing, choosing a new direction. And they remind us why year‑round services matter so deeply.

We often talk about the “two important doors” of a shelter:
• The entrance, where every person is welcomed with dignity and compassion.
• The exit, where we hope each guest leaves with more stability, more support, and more opportunity than when they arrived.

This season, 59 people walked out of that exit door with a stronger foundation beneath them. That is an incredible milestone because of the hard work of each guest and the professional staff who walk alongside them! It’s a testament of the relationships forged inside the shelter AND a testament to what our community makes possible.

Thank you to everyone who supports this work. Together, we are building pathways to stability, one guest at a time.

Last Night Marked the End of Our 7th Winter Season

We often say we are more than a bed and that remains true. While our overnight shelter has come to its seasonal close, our services do not end.

Through winter, spring, summer, and fall, we continue building relationships and providing the tools and resources that help individuals move beyond homelessness. The work simply begins to look different.

Starting May 11th, we shift into Warm Weather Day Services:
🕙 Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
⏰ 10 AM – 4 PM
🚿 Showers
🧺 Laundry
🥪 Light lunch
🧭 Individualized Roadmaps where we walk alongside our guests to help them move from just surviving to truly thriving

In the coming days, we’ll be sharing highlights from our successful 7th winter season — stories, numbers, and moments that show the impact our community made possible.

As we move forward and continue improving our services, we ask our community to keep us in mind year‑round.

By every meaningful measure, homelessness is far more costly to ignore than to take action.

And the way we make progress is together.

If you’re able to support us during the Warm Weather Season, here are ways you can help.

It is true that it’s out of necessity that anyone chooses to stay at the Flathead Warming Center…
until this season.

As we wrap up our 7th winter, we want to extend a sincere thank‑you to our “secret shopper” , a community member who accepted a pretty odd request, and chose to walk through our doors not out of necessity, but out of a desire to help us grow.

To understand our guests’ experience, you stood in line. You completed our packet of paperwork. In several ways, you were stripped of your autonomy. You followed our rules.
You placed your backpack in a locker.
You showered.
You accepted the bedding offered.
And you laid down to sleep in a large bunk room with 46 other individuals.

You didn’t find a resort. You discovered a last resort for many in our community!

You chose to see what our guests see.
You chose to feel what they feel.
And you chose to share your honest report so we could continue striving to do better - and be better.

Your visit made a difference.
Your feedback strengthened us.
And your willingness to step into another’s reality reflects the heart of true community. You are a wonderful Sole / Soul of the Flathead!

Thank you.

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Jeff and Savannah, the Flathead Warming Center’s incredible Meal Coordinators, both volunteers who serve side‑by‑side to make sure every guest is welcomed with a warm dinner.

From October 10th through April 30th, there are 203 nights of shelter. Multiply that by 50 meals a night, and you get over 10,000 meals served this winter season!
That is an extraordinary amount of care, consistency, and a huge community effort.

But Jeff and Savannah don’t do it alone. Our community signs up, shows up, and cooks with heart. Together, they make sure no one goes to bed hungry.

Jeff and Savannah shared these words of gratitude:

“We would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed meals to the Warming Center this season. It is no easy feat to provide a meal for 50 guests. But our volunteers worked together to make it happen every night of the week from October–April. There is nothing more fulfilling… and filling!… than cooking for others.”

Sharing meals is more than food. A meal together creates community. It builds connection, dignity, and a sense of belonging for people who often feel unseen.

To every volunteer who signed up, showed up, delivered, planned, prepped, or served:
We are so very grateful for you.
You make the Flathead Warming Center a place of warmth, nourishment, hope, and communuty that doesn’t give up!

Today, for National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re honored to introduce you to two extraordinary Flathead Warming Center volunteers: Julie and her assistant, Jeanne. These incredible women serve as our Supply Coordinators, and they have been with us since day one.

Julie and Jeanne reach out to our community for the supplies needed to care for our guests and because of their dedication, our community shows up again and again. The blankets, toiletries, warm clothing, and essentials you see throughout the shelter are here because these two quietly and faithfully make it happen.

Their commitment to our mission is profound. In 2023, both Julie and Jeanne received the Flathead Warming Center Good Neighbor Award, a recognition that barely scratches the surface of the gratitude they deserve.

We have over 70 on-site volunteers, and many more who donate a meal or supplies. We are very grateful!

To understand the heart of a Warming Center volunteer, listen to Julie’s words:

“We all need to feel cared for. We all need a sense of community. We all need to feel supported when we are at our most vulnerable.”
“For many who are here, they really haven’t had an easy time since the day they were born.”
“Life works best when we take care of each other.”

Julie and Jeanne embody these truths every single day. They are compassionate, steady, and deeply human examples of what it means to love your neighbors.
