September kicks off National Preparedness Month. This month is about more than the tangible items that most people commonly think of such as having bottled water, batteries, full pantries, flashlights, and a good old-fashioned radio.
There is a gap that many people don't think about as "emergency preparedness". A full pantry with all the canned goods in the world does not entirely help your family if the person who needs to sign for a medical decision, a bank transaction, or a property transfer is unconscious, incapacitated, or unreachable. Prepare now to avoid court-ordered guardianships, legal fees, and a judge deciding things the family should have been able to decide.
