A recent wildland drill with Captain Jake running the crews through hose line advancement and fire line construction that included classroom time on safety, LCES, fire shelter deployment and the 10 fire orders and 18 watch out situations. Great Job to this group of invaluable fire department members.

This could happen in Kamiah or anywhere. Please protect your public servants when at your home.

We want to send out a friendly reminder to please contain your pets. We understand that when there is an emergency and you have to call 911 for assistance you may not be able to contain your animals on your own, In this case please advise dispatch if you have animals especially if they are aggressive or protective.

While providing patient care on scene of a medical call, one of our personnel was attacked by a dog resulting in injuries needing sutures.

Friendly or not, during these stressful times, even the nicest animals can react especially when it involves their owners. Please help us keep our personnel safe so we can provide the best care for you when you need our services.

It is with deep loss we will miss Kamiah Fire District Commissioner Mike Hipes. Mike was a Veteran and a Santa Barbara Firefighter for 31 years. He is survived by his wife Pam who will forever be in our “ Fire Family “. The flag has flown at Half Mast this week over the fire station and city hall in Mikes honor. You will be missed brother. I also want to acknowledge Kooskia EMS members Sean Nelson, Teresa and Tyson Weeks, Renita Foust and Betty Metcalf for their assistance on this emergency. They are a valuable neighbor to always be there to back up Kamiah with medical and fire calls. Brotherhood at it finest

I would like to recognize all my amazing firefighters and volunteers here at Kamiah fire EMS and the Fire protection district today. That includes all of our mutual aid and neighboring Volunteers within the state of Idaho. Without you and all your effort, blood sweat and tears, we could not represent and protect the Public the way we do.

Last night at 0200 hrs the empire lumber mill in Kamiah required a full alarm structure response and mutual aid was requested with Kooskia and Orofino Fire. Four engines med one and command 20 and the assistance of the graveyard Empire Mill employees made a great stop of what could have been a catastrophic loss of the mill. I would like to thank our mutual aid agencies and all KFR employees both volunteer and paid that work tirelessly until 7 AM this morning when we handed the business back to the superintendent of the mill. I want to acknowledge and thank for the support of our City, Mayor, Genese Simler, and our Fire District Commissioner, Dan Musgrave and the IDAHO State Fire Marshall‘s office. The cause of the fire appears to be machinery. There is no arson or suspicious concern. There were no injuries. I hope everyone is as proud as I am as the chief of your Kamiah Fire, Dept and Support from our mutual aid borders. Chief Billy

Captain Jake last night put on a drafting drill with the Type 6 Engine then a hike in full gear. Med 1 had a medical call at the start of the drill and a second med call at the same time was handled by Kooskia our mutual aide partner. Great job to everyone

A new wildland start down river near MM26. Appears to have started from the highway. Not sure of the cause but please be careful with discarded ci******es and accidental heat sources as we continue to dry out our grasses. It appeared no resources on scene yet. This was approx 0945 am. Chief Billy
