As September 11th approaches, the members of our fire department pause alongside our community to honor, mourn, and remember the lives taken on that horrific September morning in 2001. More than two decades have passed, yet the weight of that day remains heavy in our hearts, and our promise to never forget remains as steadfast as ever.

On 9/11, 2,977 innocent souls were lost in an instant—mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, colleagues, and friends whose absence continues to leave an aching void in countless lives. Among them were 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 55 military service members who willingly ran into smoke, flame, and collapsing steel while others fled to safety. They did not hesitate. They faced unimaginable danger with extraordinary valor, laying down their lives in the service of total strangers. Their selflessness defines the highest standard of public service and serves as a somber, constant reminder of the profound solemnity of the oath we carry every day.

The tragedy of September 11th reshaped our nation forever, but it also revealed the true strength of the human spirit. In the darkness of our country's darkest hour, we witnessed unmatched bravery, compassion, and unity. Neighbors held neighbors, strangers offered refuge, and communities came together with unbroken resilience.

We ask that you join us this September 11th in a solemn moment of silence. Pause to honor the fallen, keep their families in your prayers, and reflect on the courage of those who continue to serve in harm’s way. Let us ensure that the legacy of those lost continues to live on through our shared community, our unity, and our enduring remembrance.

We will never forget.!!!

To the Residents and Families of Calhoun County,
As we come together this Independence Day to celebrate the birth of our nation, freedom, and the enduring spirit of community, your team at the North Calhoun Fire District wants to wish every one of you a safe and happy Fourth of July.

We are incredibly proud to serve Calhoun County. Independence Day is a time for backyard barbecues, family gatherings, and community traditions that make our county such a special place to live. While you celebrate, our dedicated crew will be standing by, ready to keep our community safe.

Because we want everyone to enjoy the holiday without a trip to the emergency room, we kindly ask that you keep a few safety reminders in mind during your celebrations:

-Leave Fireworks to the Pros: The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional public display.

-Keep a Safe Distance: If you are using legal, consumer-grade novelties, always ensure you are outdoors in a clear, open area away from dry grass, brush, and structures.

-Supervise Children: Keep a close eye on kids around open flames, grills, and even sparklers, which can burn hot enough to melt copper.

-Have a Plan: Always keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby just in case.

Thank you for your continued support of our fire district and for looking out for one another. Let’s make this Independence Day both memorable and safe.
Have a wonderful, proud, and safe Fourth of July!
Stay safe,
