Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town
Everyone was resting, the radios not a sound.
As we all closed our eyes with long relaxing groans, we were woke by a sound, the drop of the tones.
We wake very quickly from our warm comfy bed, a 2 car collision it's a sound that we dread.
We run for the closet and reach for our clothes , kiss the family goodby, it's the life that we chose.
A volunteer out the door, it's off to our cars. To run our blue lights under the midnight stars.
We get to the station and start up the truck, we will make it in time, with any luck.
We race to the scene, with lights flashing so bright, for someone tonight, for life they will fight.
We try hard as we possibly can, to start the heart of a great family man.
A guy stumbles around and falls by his trunk, we all realize the other drivers a drunk.
Along comes the sheriff with sleep in his eyes, "to prison for life, if this man dies"
We call for a flight to land in the field, to move this guy quickly for a chance to be healed.
Rotors spinning and popping in this cold winter's air, we fly him to safety for a life may we spare.
It take a lot of resources working as one, to save this man's life, by a decision so dumb.
A life has been saved on this Christmas night, because of the responders who helped in this fight.
