Calling all chefs, cooks, bakers, grill masters, potluck legends, and microwave operators! The Kanab Museum is creating a new community cookbook, Kanab’s Kitchen Table, and we want you to be a part of it! 🍳❤️
One of the earliest locally produced cookbooks was created in 1926, exactly 100 years ago. A century ago, local families came together to preserve the recipes and traditions that mattered to them. Now, we’re inviting the community to help continue that tradition for the next hundred years.
We’re looking for:
🥧 Historic family recipes
🍪 Current family favorites
📖 Stories and memories connected to food
📸 Old family photos, handwritten recipe cards, homes, kitchens, and more
Whether it’s your grandmother’s pie recipe, a ranch camp meal, homemade bread, a favorite cookie recipe, or the “struggle meal” your family still loves today, we want it all!
Recipes do not need to be fancy or professionally written. In fact, we love the handwritten notes, stained recipe cards, “secret” substitutions, and family debates over the “right” way to make something.
This cookbook will include both historic and modern recipes to help tell the story of Kanab and Kane County through the meals people shared around their tables. Once completed, free copies will be distributed in the community.
Submit online at KanabMuseum.org (direct link in comments) or pick up a printed form at the Kanab Museum or Kanab Library.
Let’s preserve local history... one recipe at a time!
