On March 28th and 29th three members attended PRI Rescue Weekend in Boone to extend their training and gain more knowledge on different topics.

Saturday/Sunday Assitant Chief (Layton Sousa) attended Big Rig Rescue which focused on larger scale accidents involving heavy equipment such as semis, telephone poles on vehicles and concrete trucks tipped over on top of a car! It allow crews to size up larger scale events and how to better work with tow trucks. These situations can happen anywhere and being trained is crucial when minute’s count.

Saturday (Phillip Kent) attended Confined Space to get a better of understanding on worse case scenarios of someone becoming trapped and how to keep yourself and the victim calm.

Sunday Fire Chief (Nat Hill), and Firefighter (Phillip Kent) attended the EV Fire to discuss the issues and topics of Electric Vehicle fires and proper ways to handle one. Fighting EV fires are different then a normal vehicle fire do to the large batteries on board and toxic fumes when fully engulfed.

We want to thank these three members for continuing there training to better themselves, department and community.

Training never stops but it’s what allows us to stay safe and prepared for the next call.

On behalf of your department we continue to pray for the injured firefighter from Thursday nights call. We want to address the rumors that the firefighter was “NOT” a Kanawha member. At the end of the day we are a brother hood and it hits all of us hard as our goal is to return everyone home safely to their loved ones. We all respond with knowing the risk of something happening and that’s why we push the training, tours to help better understand layouts and how to better do our job.

We also want to thank every Fire department, EMS, Law Enforcement, EMA’s, Secondary roads, Dispatchers, who responded and worked behind the scenes and we thank you for all the prayers and support we received threw the duration of the call along with all the food, snacks, and drinks. It may seem like a small act but it’s appreciated.

We would also like to remind people to “NOT enter a facility like this in the future or drive up and down the roads as you are causing slow downs and close call accidents for incoming and outgoing going personal trying to do there job. We understand people want to see it with there eyes but we all have social media and there was plenty of pics posted along with inaccurate information. Stay away and stay back and let crews do there jobs.

Continue your prayers and thank you again for the continued support! Have a blessed day

🚨🚒👨🏻‍🚒TODAY IS THE DAY FOLKS!!!! Rain or shine we will be ready to serve you at 5pm.

We will not be taking call in orders to go so if you are wanting to go orders you will have to jump in line and we will make them as we go!

We will also have crayons and a coloring pages for kids to help keep them occupied.

Enter in the walk in door on the East side of the building (Door Next to over head doors) once you enter, walk to the south end and loop around. Hopefully this allows us to get as many of you in and out of the rain.

Hope to see you all there!!
