A tiny visitor stopped by the park!
We spotted a fawn curled up in the grass, enjoying a quiet morning in Kane. If you see a little one like this, please remember: mom is almost always nearby. The best thing we can do is admire from a distance and give them space to stay safe.
Nature is pretty magical around here.

As a follow‑up to the incident at Evergreen Park the other night, we want to share that one of the four young individuals involved has come forward. We appreciate the accountability shown and the willingness to take responsibility.
We also want to thank the parents in our community. You are the first point of guidance for your children, and your involvement plays a major role in keeping our parks safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.
We’re grateful for the partnership and support that helps us maintain the spaces we all care about.

You’ll see Suit-Kote Corporation out over the next few weeks applying a slurry seal to select roadways. This is an important part of keeping our streets in good shape and extending the life of our pavement. Please remove your car from the street, when you get a notice from the Suit-Kote Corp so that work can be done and neighbors don't have to complain that you were the hold up!
What is a slurry seal?
It’s a protective surface treatment made from emulsified asphalt, fine aggregate, water, and mineral filler. It’s designed to seal cracks, fill surface voids, correct erosion, and provide a fresh wearing surface.
Why do we use it?
A slurry seal helps:
• Protect the pavement from weather and water damage
• Improve skid resistance
• Smooth out rough or worn areas
• Extend the life of the roadway and saving taxpayer dollars long‑term
How it’s applied:
Crews use specialized equipment that mixes and spreads the material in one continuous operation. The mixture is applied between 50°F and 125°F.
Traffic is not allowed on the surface until the slurry seal completely cures to a firm condition.
What residents should expect:
• Temporary lane closures or brief delays
• A dark, uniform surface once cured
• No traffic allowed until the material has fully set
• A smoother, safer roadway when complete
You will receive a door hanger in advance of work starting on your street.
Thank you for your patience while the team works to keep Kane’s streets safe, strong, and well‑maintained. Your cooperation helps the process go smoothly for everyone.
For all looking for a new road we apologize for the current ā€˜scenic backroad adventure’ you’re forced to take just to get home. It is in the pipeline… but government moves at the speed of a sleepy sloth on a warm day. We appreciate your patience while the wheels of progress creak forward.

Micromobility in Pennsylvania: Know the Rules, Ride Responsibly
As warmer weather brings more riders out, here’s a quick reminder about e‑bikes and motorized pedalcycles under the PA Vehicle Code—and what you need to know to stay safe and legal on the road.
E‑Bikes (Pedalcycles with Electric Assist)
According to PennDOT, an e‑bike is defined as a ā€œpedalcycle with electric assist… not capable of exceeding 20 mph on a level surface when powered by the motor alone.ā€
Key points:
• Minimum age: 16
• No license, registration, or insurance required
• Must have operable pedals
• Lights required between sunset and sunrise
• DUI laws do apply
Motorized Pedalcycles - Electric or Gas powered
PennDOT defines these as devices that meet the definition of both a motor vehicle and a motorized pedalcycle, with a design speed of no more than 25 mph and operable pedals.
Requirements include:
• Minimum age: 16
• Class C driver’s license
• Registration & insurance required
• No riding on sidewalks or in bike lanes
• DUI laws do apply

šŸ›‘ Safety First
No matter what you ride:
• Use lights after dark
• Wear a helmet (strongly encouraged for all riders)
• Follow posted traffic laws
• Ride predictably and watch for pedestrians
• Never operate any micromobility device while impaired

āœ”ļø Let’s Keep Kane Safe
Micromobility options are growing, and they’re a great way to get around—when used responsibly. Please take a moment to know the rules before you ride. Together, we can keep our streets safe for everyone.
