You may have noticed that the bus stops on Hui Iwa St have signs posted for no parking Tuesday, 4/23. I haven't enquired with anyone but I strongly suspect that it is for curbs to be repainted and that parking prohibition within those areas will again be enforced. You may also have noticed that over the years the demand for on street parking has increased dramatically, likely due to the higher percentage of multiple cars per household. It can be very challenging to find on street parking late into the night, I know this. I only have myself to blame and will endeavor to make space in my 2 car garage for a second vehicle; space that doesn't currently exist. But for those who have multiple adults and multiple vehicles, this can be far more problematic.

So I'm wondering if there might be a solution that would allow for more parking to remain available for residents. For starters It does seem that Hui Iwa St. has an inordinate number of bus stops, but I'm sure it would be inconvenience to many riders to reduce those numbers. I also wonder if there might be times parking could be made available within the bus stops during certain hours when the bus is not servicing the route. What really occurs to me to be a good solution is to eliminate all the stops on the outside of the Hui Iwa St. loop and keep the ones on the inside of the loop and simply have all bus traffic go one direction. Yes, it would be an additional block for the bus to travel going North but it seems that it would not be too much of an adjustment for drivers or riders. It is something I am thinking of proposing to The Bus and the City and I would be hopeful that it is something that could be considered.

What are your thoughts? In the meantime, please wish me luck on my garage cleanup and reorganization.
