Despite the rain, Kaneville Fest 2026 was a success! We want to thank everyone who came out, braved the weather, and helped make this year’s event a great one.

A special thank you goes to the Kaneland Legacy Softball Team and Kaneland Silver Knights for their assistance throughout the event. Your help and support was greatly appreciated as always!

Rain or shine, it’s always great to see our community come together! We’re proud to serve such a supportive community and appreciate everyone who made it out to Kaneville Fest.

🔥 LIVE FIRE TRAINING 🔥

The Kaneville Fire Protection District worked alongside the Big Rock Fire Protection District in a live-fire training exercise utilizing an acquired structure this past Saturday.

Training in an acquired structure provides firefighters with valuable hands-on experience in a realistic environment. During the training, our members were able to practice several important firefighting skills, including:

Roof ventilation
Interior overhaul
Fire behavior and progression

Opportunities like this allow our firefighters to strengthen their skills, gain experience with real fire conditions, and continue working alongside our neighboring districts.

We would like to thank the members who took the time to participate in this training and continue their commitment to improving their knowledge and abilities.

A special thank you to Big Rock Fire Department for the invitation, hospitality, and opportunity to train alongside your members. We appreciate the continued partnership between our neighboring districts.

Please join us in congratulating Everett Rutan on successfully completing his EMT-B course.

Everett took on the challenge of a demanding 14-week course while continuing to manage his personal life, repair business, and his commitment to the Kaneville Fire Protection District.

He spent countless hours at the station studying, asking questions, and preparing himself for the challenges ahead. We had no doubt in his ability to successfully complete the course.

As if completing the course wasn't enough, Everett was also presented with one of only three awards given last night, the "Above and Beyond" Award.

He didn't stop there. He has already challenged the National Registry exam and successfully passed, continuing his journey toward becoming a licensed EMT!

Everett, we are incredibly proud to have you as a member of our team. Your dedication, work ethic, and willingness to continue learning are exactly what we look for in our members. We look forward to watching you continue to grow both personally and professionally.

A special thank you to A-TEC Ambulance, the instructors, and Sandwich Fire Department for providing this opportunity and for investing in the next generation of EMS providers.

🚌 Back-to-School Safety: School Bus Safety

As students head back to school, remember that safety starts before they even reach the classroom. Whether you’re driving, walking, or riding the bus, everyone has a role in keeping students safe.

🛑 Drivers: Slow down and stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Never pass a stopped school bus.

🚶 Students: Stay alert around buses, use sidewalks and crosswalks when available, and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.

🚌 Bus riders: Stay seated, keep aisles clear, keep hands and heads inside the bus, and follow the driver’s instructions.

Let’s make this school year a safe one for every student. Slow down, stay alert, and watch for school buses!
