The Kaneville Fire Protection District is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant through the Office of the State Fire Marshal in the amount of $17,670.00 to replace our aging structural firefighting boots.

This funding is an important investment in the safety and readiness of our firefighters. Structural firefighting boots are critical protective equipment that help keep our personnel safe while operating in dangerous and unpredictable environments. Replacing aging gear ensures our members can continue serving the community with reliable, up-to-date equipment while maintaining the highest level of protection possible.

This grant not only benefits our firefighters but also strengthens the level of service we are able to provide to the Kaneville community. By securing outside funding opportunities such as this, the department can continue improving firefighter safety and operational readiness while reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers.

Chief Chase would like to personally thank Administrative Assistant Cathy Kovach for her hard work in obtaining this grant. Her years of experience and dedication to the grant process has once again made a positive impact on the department.

We would also like to thank the Office of the State Fire Marshal for their continued support of the fire service and commitment to firefighter safety.

Our new candidates spent time tonight practicing proper donning and doffing procedures before our evening meeting. Training on safely putting on and removing gear is an important part of firefighter safety and preparedness. Great job by everyone for putting in the work and building strong habits from day one! πŸš’

We, as a community, take this day to remember the fallen men and women that gave their lives in service to their country. We honor them with a ceremony and a march down Main Street to the cemetery. Every year, we block the road to allow our community to safely make their way down Main Street. This year we were honored to have firefighters involved with the color guard portion of the ceremony. Pictured is Firefighter Jonathan Garrelts and Candidate Evan Cicero. They did an amazing job and we are beyond proud of them for stepping up and assisting in this role.

In the comments, feel free to share a name and or photo of a family member or friend that we honor this day for. πŸŽ—πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

πŸš’ This week our members trained on V.E.I.S. β€” Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search.

This critical fireground skill focuses on quickly locating and removing victims from high-risk areas while improving firefighter safety and coordination. Crews practiced ladder placement, window entry, room isolation, search techniques, and victim removal in realistic conditions.

Training like this helps prepare our volunteers for the moments that matter most. Thank you to all of our members for their dedication and commitment to protecting our community.

Interested in serving your community? We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. πŸš’πŸš‘
